Wabara or Quinn?
« on August 31, 2013, 05:33:22 pm by Red Rover »
Experience or youth?

Thought Wabara was awful today, maybe give Quinn a chance in the next match?

The amount of times Wabara let their lad cross into the box was worrying. Half of them he barely made an effort to block the cross.

Quinn was one of our best players last year, very harsh to be sat on the bench.

I also think it's harsh on Quinn to be dropped. What's he done to be dropped?

Don't think Wabara made a tackle in first half, very poor.  Husband had a good game IMO.

I agree, all our problems at Wigan came down that side

I made this point a few times, Warbara hasn't done it for me yet, I don't see why Quinn hasn't played more at all.

Wabara will get better as the season goes on because he has shown bits of potential. As already said it was harsh on Quinn to be dropped after one game but i don't think PD likes Quinn because of his lack of pace.

Quinn every time. Wabara is a f**king awful defender. I can't believe we've decided to extend his loan.

PD said he's hopefull Wellens and Wabara will sign post match so nothings complete yet. Wouldn't surprise me if we he went back and a new RB came in for the next game

V Poor today, and not good against Leeds. He needs to step up to the plate quickly otherwise Quinn has to be recalled. Going forward didn't offer much either. Gutless performance.

Wabara didn't manage to prevent a single cross all game that I can remember. That's maybe a record.

Quinn please.

Quinn. Better positionally. May be tempted to persevere with Wabara if he was ours but as a loan signing Man City are benefitting from his mistakes here whilst we pay for them.

First time I've seen Wabara today. Probably one of the most ineffective displays I've seen in a Rovers shirt for years.
Pugh must have thought all his birthdays had come at once.
Quinn please

That's not correct and doesn't add to the debate

There were also many many far more ineffective perfoances last season from players but we won the league.
Talk about overreacting, my god

Dickos,
Please tell us about ANY performance that was more ineffective than Warbara today.
I sincerely hope it was a one off, but Pugh couldn't have had an easier afternoon if Warbara had sat in the stand with me

If Reece has many more games like that,Dickov will rest him for a game or two,he was playing against a very experienced player in Pugh,we all knew before he came that his defending needed improving,he's a modern day full back,Quinn is old school,a steady dependable defender, hard decision,i think it's a case of looking who you are playing and matching them up to certain games, maybe a game or two out wouldn't hurt him,but he's a young player learning the game, don't be surprised if next game he looks a lot better, that's what young players do,Quinn you know what you get,six out of ten every week, but Wabara if he develops the defensive side is capable of becoming a far better all round player than Quinn,i'd give him another start personally but let him know Quinn is close to taking his place.

It might not be Dickov's choice. Quite often with PL loans the lending club insist that their player has to play?

I think these 2 can be alternated dependent on opposition. I'd be tempted to go with Quinn more in home backs when we expect to have bit more possession, preferring Wabara when we might look to counter attack teams ... just my opinion ... suspect Quinn will be looking for a move come January if he's a consistent bench-warmer though.
