target a future supporter

If we all gave ourelves a target of recruiting someone to convert into a future fan what would be the plan?
  Invite them to their first match but try to personalise the occasion somehow .
   For a child the family stand and the special surroundings on that concourse make it special
   For your mate it has to be a pint and a pie
   For the missus ... I'm still trying to work out the best ploy.

The missus one is hard i take mine for most of last year and all games this year baring one so far she only comes so she not left alone for a few hours

the best thing for the missus could be a meal with wine and match ticket in the resturant

That of course depends whether she likes football.  If she does then she won't need such special treatment.  A pleasant drink before the game should be enough and perhaps a wee trip to the Keepmoat catering bars at half time.
Of course the main thing will be an entertaining match!

I've been trying to get my nephew into football for a year or so now. Thinking of taking him to the FA Cup game if we're at home, as the seats round me are usually taken.

Both grandsons (5 and 1 yr old) have just been given their new Rovers shirts, the gradual drip-drip has begun.
I'm planning on taking the eldest to a pre-season friendly next July/august when he might be happy enough to sit still for more than 10 minutes

I think we have a gap in catering between the busy concourse or Belle Vue Bar and the restaurant. I'd like to see a ralaxing cafe bar where you can sit cnmfortably and enjoy lite bites to eat without costing a fortune. This may suit couples or those who want to keep clear of the bustle of the beer swilling bars. I think there is space to accomodate this.

I'm considering it, because I really want to take him to his first game. He's 5 now so I think he'd probably sit through it all without wanting to go home early.

I have a friend who is a massive nufc fan but he lives near me in Lincolnshire. Took him and his lad to the notts county away game last yr. cracking day out with a good noisy turnout by the rovers faithful. Outcome: he is now a rovers convert (the lad that is). Dad has bought him a shirt, the lad plays as rovers on the console game and they have come to a few games since. dad will always be a Geordie but his lad will always be a rover.

my son used to run the ladbrokes kiosk at the km. took me to the wolves games in fa cup were we went to replay. 2 years on me and his mum are st holders in the south stand and support home n away.

My plan is to convert little JD as early as possible. I'm contemplating getting him a ST in the seat next to me (if it's available) next season, then keep it as his until he is old enought to attend... I thought the forest game would have been ok but apparently 1 week old is too young!!

The question is... What age is old enough so that they take it in/enjoy themselves (with added persuasion of drugging them up on pop and spice) but young enough so they don't get entised by the shitty glory of premier league teams, scum etc...








... Assuming we aren't in the premiership by then of course

I managed to get my younger brother who was born and lives in sheffield to become a rover maybe 5 years back.

needless to say he is currently reaping the rewards and is able to give his school mates some grief. much like i did when i was at school in Barnsley.

I live in Chesterfield and my girlfriends little one will be coming to a game soon, maybe if we get a home tie in the cup would be good.

she already wants a shirt after seeing me in mine, i found her wearing it last week so thats two iv introduced so far.

To get the wife there, I tell her that this one is very important and we should really thrash this team , and David Beckham plays for them.

Whenever I take a mate, it's that one game when they played worse than you've ever seen.

To get the kids there, I'd tell them I have some puppies in the van.

My nieces were 5 and 7 at the start of the season and whilst they have attended games in the past, this season is the first one whereby I think that they enjoying going, although Lois (the 7 year old) decides some weekends she would rather go shopping with her other grandma.

Me & my mum have pushed Rovers onto them since they were a young age, mainly because their dad is a Man United fan and their other grandparents are Barnsley fans so we wanted to ensure that they grew up supporting the right team. I must say, the signing of Louis Tomlinson has certainly increased their interest....

My youngest neice, Betsy, is most certainly going to be a Rover, whether she likes it or not. My sister was a STH until she had Betsy 18 months ago  however, my brother in law is a Leeds fan. Betsy had a Rovers kit before she was even born and I have continued to kit her out to make sure there is none of this Leeds rubbish anywhere near her....

As for enticing others, I brought a friend to a game last season and I promised her lots of vodka and caipirinhas afterwards. She seemed to enjoy it to say it was only her second ever football match and I think she will be coming to the Bolton away game in December.

I used to take my lad mine bundled up in my coat when a baby for the whole game, then as he got older used to drag him along to the second half which suited his attention span, and was at a reduced price. This way he grew accustomed to seeing the red and white hoops whilst young enough for deep brainwashing. I fear if I'd waited till he was 5, the chance of him wanting a prem club shirt would have grown.

Big new American Rover will be attending her second match at Reading on Saturday - hopefully we shall be playing in red and white or the change in kit may confuse her. Little new American Rover was supposed to be coming to her first ever game, but has been lured away but the alternative of a birthday party. I could have tried the vodka and caipirinhas afterwards route I suppose, but not sure how wise that might be for a 13yo.

I tried this, I friend I knew from the pub had said he wouldn't mind going to see the Rovers and wanted to see the new stadium. I got him ticket and we went along, problem was it was one of those awful games in the dog days of SoDs reign. This guy has an old affiliation with Sheffield Wednesday, who he proclaimed were much more entertaining. He's never come back. His loss.

I recall the Palace game that were free tickets was a shockingly poor game. If only we could ensure a top performance and atmosphere for all.

Also ensure we provide short shorts and long legs, the One Call girls, and opening a branch of Debenhams in the east stand and everyone will be happy
