What a horrible spoilt example of a human being, so out of touch with reality it's unreal
My guess is he will resign citing racism as a factor
Surprised there have not been comments from the leader of the black lawyers thing - is that in itself not racist

It must have seemed a really good idea at the time.

Set up a commission which would include the chairmen of all the major stakeholders in the English game- the Premier League, the Football League, the PFA etc. Throw in a few other "experts" and then come up with a plan to improve the fortunes of the England team.

Trouble is that then you come up against (1) the Premier League, who will be asked to implement most of the recommendations, who decide they don't want to play ball, and (2) members of the FA Board with their own agendas.

The whole thing will end up as a talking shop with far too many members and without the most important component of the lot- the Premier League. Most of the changes that are proposed will have to be implemented by them- reducing the number of non-English players in squads, winter breaks, changes at academy level etc- and because they're not part of the commission they'll feel free to reject any that don't suit them.

On one level you can feel quite sorry for Greg Dyke, but on the other hand he's supposed to be an astute political operator. The way this has unravelled, you get the feeling he hasn't thought through the potential pitfalls before he set this body up.

Or he could have been chosen because he's one of the most experienced and decorated players we've  ever produced.

His qualifications as player dont come into in my book.its his CV as a person that i question .

One classic from him. Was When utd were away at fulham on new years day and the prick tweeted ....hope all you lot are out tonight enjoying a new years eve drink/party while i have too sit in my hotel room ....

He soon took his tweet down after untold normall People tweeted back that
They be more Than happy to be hotel bound on new years eve while picking up thousands upon thousand Of pounds a week pay packet.

The bloke as no moral compass for me and there must be far better standing Black players out there who could do the role

Or is that why he got the job because he is Black?to keep all the left Wing
And politital correct fcukwits happy and that society Of Black lawyers book ends

He's a modern player. Modern players need representing on the commission. He's made mistakes but it doesn't mean he can't contribute.

Yeah, its clear from this post that diversity isn't an issue among football and football fans at all.

From my side Of the fence i think the FA should have had a coloured person on Their new committe from the start.....

.....but not Rio Ferdinand as i Cant respect or take on board what his
Views on whatever subject after how he set his stall out.

Iam sure more Than enough football fans will have near enough the same thought as me apart from any man utd fans which is understandable since they all be deeming RF Tinted specs

I question the choice of Ferdinand, not because of his race but because he is a moron. As someone earlier said, why not pick someone of a bit more intelligence - Clarke Carlisle springs to ming - rather than simply the most capped non-white player. Just because he was a fantastic footballer for England doesn't mean he will be any help whatsoever to the commission.

I'm with you Oslo. I dont think its a good choice, h is outspoken and out of touch. I think he is there to make the numbers up minority wise. He has never struck me as intelligent or well spoken and he seems a trouble causer.
I don't understand the decision. I think there are far better options available and I just don't see what he brings to the table.

I think Clarke Carlisle would be a good choice as he's intelligent and well spoken, however isn't he already linked with something else? Perhaps they considered him but with him having something else on the go thought otherwise.

What's it got to do with keeping the left wing happy? :s I doubt the more extreme elements would launch a communist revolution if there were no blacks on board.

I'm left wing and I think he's a pillock.

There are many more better qualified to take this role than him. Always struck me as more interested in himself than anyone around him and as already mentioned he's not overly blessed upstairs.

Greg Dyke invited the PFA to send a representative and at the time Clarke Carlisle was Chairman. He's now retired and so has relinquished the chair- the PFA Chairman is always an active player.

I still think Carlisle would be a good choice in his own right. Also I heard Ledley King on the radio the other day and was impressed by what he had to say. Both would be better than Ferdinand, whose appointment reeks of tokenism.

Well done to the FA and their commitment to diversity. Selecting Rio Ferdinand to represent the bellends out there is a great choice.

Tokenism is the word. Carlisle or King perhaps but for me someone like Chris Powell Or Chris Hughton.

Would have no problems what so ever if he was given the role and would
Take note Of what he said.

I think a player like Cyril regis would be a good shout, due to fact that he played When racialism was at Its height on the terrace .also i have never heard him spout shite like wobble gob.

Just watch the highlights of their game vs WBA at Old Trafford the other week, and look who is questionablly at fault for both WBA goals!

What a pointless point to make he's not on the panel because of his footballing performances this season what's him making two mistakes got to do with it. He's been one of the best centre halves England have had and a few years ago he was one of the best centre halves in the world and he's won everything at club level. He's there to try and improve the state of English football at the bottom and the bloke has great experience in the game and talks sense when it comes to football.

Talks sense?

Are we talking about the same Rio Ferdinand or is there another one only you know about?
