I know there are a lot of talks about it nationally but is there any progress actually being made
I couldnt help notice how many stood up for the entire game at oakwell, and it certainly added to the atmosphere. some were even stood in the aisles.
the stewards did not seem bothered either - which makes a change.

I think the OP is about the (very welcome) pledge that Rovers made to support the Safe Standing Campaign and be actively interested in bringing safe standing to Rovers.
I suspect the local and national are interlinked, but I too would be interested to hear more.

Yes they are both closely linked. However it would be difficult for me to sum up the whole campaign and the different areas of progress and where each are. Not only that but some of it is confidential and is kept under wraps.
However some of the key points are;
The Rovers, like a majority of FL clubs supported our campaign, which was then raised at FL meeting and the vote was on favour of the league investigating the options and possibilities of introducing standing back in FL stadiums. We're still waiting for that report.
The government refuse to budge, despite several mp's constantly raising it in the house. Elections are due soon, I expect to see it in all the relevant parties manifesto's.
Bristol City and Peterborough have both submitted planning applications for new stadiums which do include standing areas. It'll be a battle to get them through but I expect them to triumph.
The SPL have abolished the regulation in Scotland to have all seater stadiums. Celtic have already begun planning and development in certain areas of their stadium. The Police are attempting to block it at present. Once it goes through expect all,other clubs to follow suit.
The PL still won't discuss it but we have the balance in favour, some publicly but most in private. Aston Villa have requested permission to do it at their ground. It has been on the agenda at a few PL meetings.
Cardiff City have introduced an official standing area in their stadium! the first in the PL, and nobody has attempted to shut it down.
There are plenty of negotiations and discussions being done privately between the SGSA, government, ourselves, the Police, safety officers association etc. but they are running out of ways to block the progress.
As you've noticed most clubs are now turning a blind eye to standing in seated areas, it's only a matter of time.
