Goodbye Macheda, Yun & Wabara...
« on January 03, 2014, 03:55:32 pm by Red Rover »
Will we miss them? Never saw too much of Yun, but we don't need two left backs on loan, Wabara was constantly crap and dare I say Macheda wasn't always up for the fight! Pleased to have Syers back, and maybe we'll get to see a couple of loans in more desperate positions come in.  :rtid:

No news on Wellens yet, which is a bit of a worry.

He's nearly 34 years old. There is very little security in football, especially when you get to that kind of age, I imagine he wont get anywhere near like a 18 month deal anywhere else (that is if we are actually offering him a 18 month deal!)

It's only a contract for next season isn't it. Not that long really.

Is it a year ago this weekend that Wabara scored against Liverpool for Oldham? He's not good enough for this league at the minute I don't think.

I can't see any other club giving him an 18 month contract though

Bit harsh on Macheda, I think he's quality obviously not going to play well every game but when he does he's up there

Macheda was brilliant against QPR, we just need a bit of consistency from all of our attacking players as Theo was also very good against QPR

How long of a contract would they give him? I think you're wrong.

Where does it say we have let them go? Macheda has gone to United to be re-evaluated as have their other loanees, Wabara was, I thought on a year long loan like Khumalo and PD said they were talking to QPR about extending Yun. He did say it was up to them if they wanted him out onloan again.

I have looked at the official site and the only tthing there is Syers coming back.

Either way, to be fair to Wabara, he was playing with an injury most of the time he was here.
He was crap, but at least he had an excuse.

As I've said elsewhere, he WASN'T crap for the first 8 games of the season, when playing in position and fit. Like pissing in the wind reminding folk though. Some people on here have memories shorter than goldfishes.

He wasn't good though Billy by ant stretch of the imagination. I don't like Quinn as a player but I think he's better than Wabara. All about opinions though I suppose.

Thanks. Don't use twitter so didn't see that. Wellens to QPR as well. The vision for the club is becoming clearer.

WTF do you mean by that?  even with investment to sustain a championship team, we still couldn't afford QPR level wages!

Agreed. He was still the weak link when we were doing well.

Macheda - For me his class is clear, if we managed to get him back for the rest of the season and playing half as well as he did at QPR we have a striker on our hands again.

Wabara - Poor for the majority of his time here but as said before, playing out of position with a foot injury isn't going to help the development of any young player. Would be interested in seeing how he develops.

Yun - Not seen enough of him to comment really with him having no time to settle into games.

Wellens - It's a tough one. The board will get stick if he goes with the usual tripe of "No ambition" or whatever. He's clearly a class act but at 34 and clearly a high earner is he worth breaking the bank for? This is definitely the time to give De Val and Syers a run in the side. I really do like Wellens as a player and he's one of the best midfielders we've had in my lifetime in terms of how he can control a midfield but if he's on a decent wage that could bring in/keep younger players then i'm all for that.

Early days yet and we don't know what is in the pipeline in terms of players in or out. If Wellens does leave, then I doubt it's because the club hasn't tried its utmost to keep him.

Personally I am keeping the faith. Long way to go.

How does yo-yoing mean more money? what kind of explanation is that? if anything you lose more money because you have bigger losses to cover...

Is Stevens still at Rovers then?

I thought his loan was up Jan 1, and I haven't seen that he has extended.

You do realise the loss we made last year and the size of the costs we had right?
