Referee.....again!
« on January 13, 2014, 11:53:20 am by Colin C No.3 »
In the 2nd half the referee halted play with Rovers on the attack because Tommy Spurr had gone down. It wasn't a head injury & Tommy wasn't writhing around in agony, he was sat up holding his knee.

The physio came on, up got Tommy & the referee indicated that he had to leave the field of play.......he didn't!

Wellens was 'required' to concede possession by kicking the ball out for a goalkick.

My post match question's to the ref (in 'My World' where they are allowed to be interviewed) would be, "Why did you stop play when the rules state that it is only necessary to do so when you believe a player has received an injury that necessitates immediate attention, like a head injury, a collapse, or a possible bone break?"

"Why was Spurr not made to leave the field of play after receiving treatment?"

Around the 80th minute, a Blackburn player went to ground (off the ball again!) & received treatment on the pitch from the physio. The Blackburn bench put up his number & he was replaced.

My next question ref, "Should the player not have been made to leave the pitch having received on the pitch attention, play then commenced until the ball 'went dead' before the substitute was allowed to take his place?".

Final question, "How much were you paid to 'ignore' the blatant Blackburn handball inside the penalty area when you were 5 yards away, yet 'spotted' Coppinger's 'cute' handball from 20 yards away on your 'blindside'?"

Have to agree with all of that Colin.
Also the lino running in front of the main stand (in the 1st half) was the worst I've seen in years.  He could see the "hand ball" including the arm moving towards the ball, but left it to the ref, then put his flag up to agree with the ref's decision.  This happened all the way through the first half - totally incompetent.
We really deserved a point for that 2nd half display.

That linesman might as well have not been there, all game he was hesitant and constantly looking to the referee to make the decision, even when he was better placed to make it! Referee had a nightmare when the 2 Blackburn players were down injured in the 1st half and he played advantage, only to halt play when they got near our goal, then they both stayed on the pitch having received treatment.

Didn't that lino look really old as well? Certainly couldn't make any decision without waiting for the referee.
