From the Brighton forum;

Both could have gone easily.

Plus Dickov after the game;

Violent conduct? Harsh, but it's not clear from that video. It won't get rescinded because he did do something, the only tend to over turn them if nothing happens at all and it's a figment of the referees imagination. No complaint at the time from Billy though.

Not the best of video's does look a bit harsh though, probably a yellow. Big decision for PD now

No point in trying to appeal, there is clearly violent conduct and the ref is entitled to show red.
Greer is fortunate not to be carded as well.

Unprofessional from BS, and he should be fined for it by the club, IMO.

And how would that work given that, I presume (?), we are paying Southampton the money and not the player directly?

I thought that as well Albie - Greer definitely looked as if he swung an his right elbow towards Sharp's chin.

However - billy lashed out with his foot and swung two 'punches' his way too - In my opinion unfortunately Billy had to go!

Greer was lucky not to at least get a yellow too!

In fact had Billy gone down after the initial contact with Greer I'm sure Greer would have walked!

No chance of getting the card rescinded. The only thing we could try is to argue that three games is excessive and try to get it reduced to one (as happened with Kyle Bennett recently). I'd not be terribly confident of winning that one though.

It's funny when you look at incidents like this, and then say the one involving Rooney where he never even gave away a free-kick...

Anyway, I think it's worth appealing to get it reduced to one.

Greer lashed out with the elbow first. Should have been a yellow for each. It's not like Billy connected is it?

and then the smug little git refused to explain fully

Manager Paul Dickov spoke to referee Gavin Ward after the match and was told the decision was made because of a kick out by Billy Sharp on Gordon Greer.

We are not clear whether it was for the initial foul or the incident afterwards, as the referee would not fully explain.
