Yeovil vs Millwall tonight.

Massive game for them two and obviously it's massive in how it affects us!

A draw is the best result for us in this one? Right?

No. We want Yeovil to win. If we are worried about a side that has picked up 20 points from the first 28 matches, and is showing no signs whatsoever of hitting form, we have no chance of staying up. Yeovil will not get 40 points this season. A win for them against a team in a significantly stronger position is the best outcome for us.

With the amount of rain that's fallen in the south west I wouldn't be surprised if it is off. They pulled out all the stops to get the Leeds game on because it was televised.

1-0 to Yeovil, a number of injuries and sending-offs for both sides, followed by a match fixing row which see's both teams docked 10 points.

Would normally agree BST, but on the other hand we don't want them suddenly confident in two weeks time......

Remind me...what were the odds on us stopping up halfway through our first season in the Championship..?

Trust yer Uncle Billy. Yeovil are not a concern.

47 points to stay up. If Yeovil get 27 points from their last 18 matches, I will don a smock and straw hat and sing I Am a Zider Drinker at Clock Corner.

Yeovil winning tonight means that Millwall would need 21 points from 16 games to hit that level. And they've only got 12 from their last 16.

We just need to focus on picking up 18 points from 16 games. 5 wins, 3 draws and 8 defeats and we'll be fine.

True. But
A) that sort of escape doesn't happen often.
B) Yeovil are in a far worse position than we were. Our worst position was 18 points from 24 games. They have 20 from 28. Worse ppg and less time to turn it round.

By comparison, we had 30 points after 28 games that season.

A burnley battering Bolton would be nice too. Get their poor goal difference similar to ours.

Anything but a Millwall win! - preferably a Yeovil win, but a draw wouldn't be a disaster. And yes, Burnley battering Bolton would be a bonus!

Hoping for a Yeovil win & although local derbies kick up funny results let us hope Burnley have too much for Bolton. In the meantime we need to improve our poor away form else it will put us under more pressure to win our home games, hopefully we can start at Yeovil.

It might be my memory, but didn't we have a much bigger points gap to make up though?

Glyn. I don't have definitive numbers to hand about what our biggest gap was, but certainly Xmas was our low point in terms of points per game so far into the season. On Xmas day, the bottom of the table was

Norwich 26 pts
Soton 23
Forest 21
Charlton 18
Donny 18

Yeovil have a Herculean task to stay up, never mind to catch us. They may do it, because there are 4 very poor sides at the bottom. But they really shouldn't catch us as long as we are not total basket cases over the final third.

I see what people are saying about a Yeovil win, so, I'll be a sheep and agree with them lol.

Burnley with a hefty-ish win vs Bolton would be nice too. Are we bothered about how Wendies do vs Wigan? Or, are they pretty much out of it now and likely to finish mid-table?

Wednesday fans are now talking about play-offs. Deluded fools the lot of them, but they are pulling clear.

No a Wigan win would be ideal, Wendies are only 4 points in front of us and will only have one game in hand until Sat when they will get the 2nd game in hand back. No Wickham for them so lost their main strike weapon keep the sweating.

Wednesday's had a bit more than a honeymoon period. It's been sustained since before Christmas.
The more teams struggling around us the better but I think Wednesday will continue to get more points than us. Bolton have too many decent players and will pick up more points.
Bottom 4 will be Yeovil, Barnsley, Charlton and Millwall. All four are worse than us, but we won't be much higher than 5th bottom.
