Comparing the size of a Belgian club's potential fanbase with "TLOD"
Yet Charlton have an ace up the sleeve. On February 12, 1938, 75,031 people made the journey to The Valley to watch them play an FA Cup fifth-round tie against Aston Villa. By club, it remains the eighth highest attendance in the history of English football. Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Leeds United, for instance, have never beaten it.
Standard Liege’s biggest gate, by comparison, is 38,034 for a European Cup tie with Juventus in 1982. That places them ahead of the largest crowd at Doncaster Rovers by 885

How can TLOD possibly compare to the mighty Charlton Athletic, who, let's not forget, achieved the 8th highest ever league crowd back in 1938...
I pity the fool.

Actually, it's interesting that he uses that obscure stat as some sort of indicator of club size, which obviously makes a club greater than other clubs.
Firstly, he could have chosen Blackpool as a better comparison club to Standard Liege, as their highest attendance is only 54 higher, or Ipswich, which is only 23 lower, but obviously that wouldn't have the same affect.
Secondly, going on Mr Samuels logic, TLOD are a bigger/great club than the likes of (sic) Reading, Swansea, Wigan, Southampton, Brighton, Watford...
