Rotate on Tuesday?
« on March 23, 2014, 12:03:10 pm by The Red Baron »
The players put in a real shift yesterday. I wonder if there's a case for freshening it up a little on Tuesday. Not wholesale changes, but maybe a chance for Furman and Robinson?

I'm not expecting anything on Tuesday but we're full of confidence after recent games and could nick a point.

We could start Robinson instead of Brown to give the latter a rest and try to manage his card count.

I'd swap brown for Robinson and switch Wellens for De Val, let's at least try and make something of him

It's not a bad idea to basically throw the game Tuesday and come back fresh for Leeds.

Mixed feelings. Winning can be a habit, and an elusive one to regain.

On the other hand with a small squad I can see the longer term point in protecting a couple of key players in one match.

Another problem is we don't know what is happening at Leeds, but this will be known when we go there.  Lifting uncertainty might have a positive effect on them, whatever the outcome of the FL decision. I wouldn't want to put all the eggs in the one basket of winning that game.

Anyway Birmingham and Bolton are more important games IMHO

This is what a good run of form at this stage of the season does though. We can go into the next two games with little pressure and almost afford to lose them both.

For me this is a mini break in the league with the real stuff restarting when Birmingham come to town.

Have they finally got him for that porn?

I Don't think we can afford to pick and choose when we win,i understand the thinking, with us probably having more chance with Leeds than Burnley, but we never do anything against Leeds,so i think that's dangerous, having said that,we need the fringe players firing, and Brown must be carrying more niggles,a game on the bench wouldn't harm him for this one,and we need Robinson to chip in with a few,i don't think you should rest Brown and Wellens in the same game, that would be very risky,i'd be tempted to give Enda Stevens a start at left back,Robinson in for Brown,i think i'd give Turnbull a start as well, just to keep both keepers on they're toes, other than that i wouldn't change anything else.

I'd see how the lads are feeling fitness wise before making changes. We have some decent back up options that said.

I agree with that, but what I don't want to hear is that next Saturday's game " was one game too far" and that "the players were leggy." Ideally you'd want to stick with a winning team but at the same time you don't want them losing a game simply because some of the squad lack freshness and energy.

Start the same but maybe make earlier substitutions?

Play the best 1st 11 and see how the match goes.  If Burnley race ahead say 2 or 3 nowt by half time, then yes, make changes to rest players.  If it is 0-0 or we're winning, stick with it until we have to change.

That sounds sensible.

Dickov has told me personally that he will only start De Val this season if he has no other choice.  He doesnt feel that Marc as slotted into the English style of play.  He wants to get a full pre season with him.  Id like him to start him or its a waste of a years contract and wages
