Dave has lost the plot
« on April 11, 2014, 02:35:23 pm by IC1967 »
Dave has to go. I've just found out he's a religious nutter. Tony Bliar was too, and look what a mess of things he made following his Christian beliefs. Any leader of our country should be an atheist and deal with things on a purely secular basis. Getting religion involved is asking for trouble. I thought he was more intelligent than that.

So Nick Clegg, a self-confessed atheist, would be your choice for PM? I always thought you were a closet Lib Dem.  ;)

The leader of Germany in the 1930's was an atheist, as were Stalin, Mao Zedung and Pol Pot. I see immediately why you link yourself with them.

Hitler never declared himself an atheist; afaik he just disassociated himself from Catholicism.
I'm an atheist by the way, and I'm afraid I resent such mindless suggestions as your ill-though quip above.

I am no expert on Hitler's religious beliefs and even the ones who are cannot agree. He was the leader of a country that was 90% Catholic and had a high percentage of Catholic members in his party so was certianly aware of political necessity in dealing with the church during his rise to power. He promoted Nazi's who were openly aethiest and pagan to senior posts. What would he have gone on to do if he had won the war? I shudder to think but it would certainly not have been based on any exisiting religious doctrine.

Religious doctrine is the cause of most of the problems in the world.

The leader of Germany in the 1930's was an atheist
Quote from Mein Kampf, doesnt sound much of an atheist to me,i am of the Richard Dawkins kind

“My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Saviour as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who—God’s truth!—was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross.”

So am I. Whenever a religious nutter debates with Richard he makes them look unbelievably stupid and naive.

So there you have it. Hitler used religion to try and exterminate the Jews. Game set and match.

Possibly  the deepest thinker I know said this to me..

I don't believe in God, I believe in the Big bang and evolution. I don't think god exists.

Last week whilst watching The ice man on C4 I remarked how sad it was that he was theoretically murdered by one of his own tribe.... Only to be told well, that's life. People hate each other and kill each other and we aren't like Jesus, we don't come back at Easter...

His reasoning for the dismissal of god as an entity?

Well, you never see anything about dinosaurs in the Bible do you....

How do you argue with the perfectly correct logic of an eight year old?

Here's a question for those who are believers. At what point during human evolution did we get souls? Bear in mind we have been evolving for aprox. 4 billion years.

Milliband has announced he's a Jewish atheist?

Apparently he would become Britains first Jewish PM... Or maybe that's first atheist PM or both perhaps or maybe neither if he doesn't get in.

He wouldn't be the first PM who was Jewish at birth but not Jewish when PM.

Ed would be the first Jewish PM who doesn't believe in god. Though he sees a positive side to religion. Where Tony Blair was a committed Christian whose government 'didn't do god' Millibands would be a godless PM who does do god.  I think.

The SS wore an insignia that read "Gott mit uns" it appeared a lot on military hardware too. The Nazis also called their war on the Soviets as the war against the unbelievers. I don't think you can say the Nazis were atheists, they thought god was on their side.
