This is the danger, it can easily be written up as LT ripping off his fans.

That headline completely ignores the fact that as well as 10 mins with Tomlinson, you get a box for the game but then I suppose they would question whether LT fans really want to see a Rovers match.

Glad some of the comments shoot down the misleading headline.

I think I did point out the misleading nature of the headline.

But I do think journalists of a non Doncasterian persuasion would question whether most LT fans really want to watch the Rovers. Am I being disloyal in some way by pointing this out?

More chance of getting money for the club doing that than the "Quid for a striker" campaign, or passing a bucket about during matches.

Who in their right mind would want to spend a day being pulled about for photos when they could be on a Barbados beach? Not me. Give the guy some credit, he's not only putting his money in, he's getting out there and trying to get even more by using his fame. More than Terry, or Dick did......no?

Football is changing, for the better, embrace it or move on.

No one is suggesting LT doesn't deserve credit for lending his support to the Rovers.

Your missing the point Craigy. Whilst you may be right about the means of gaining income for the club, the headline may impact on parents of LT fans making decisions whether to cough up. Surely not good for the cause?

The BBC and Sunday Mirror have already run similar stories.

There nothing stories though in defence of LT. If people want to pledge the cash then it's up to them

That said it's falling on its arse very quickly with the target looking like it is going to fall very short

I like the pledge 200 quid to be a mascot for the day.....then states there's only 600 available lmao!!! How's this work then?? By my reckoning some of these guys who pay for this could be 50 before they lead the lads out!

Glad some of the comments shoot down the misleading headline.

Interestingly one of the comments was:

megan, scotland, 21 hours ago
"If he cares so much about the club why doesn't he just pay the full amount instead of ripping off stupid young fans who won't realise how he is using them ?"

Fair point?

So from a right wing paper that demonises the sick, vulnerable unemployed we have a balanced view of a young lad supporting his local football club. The difference between me and him at his age is simply a few million quid, FFS!

I am disapointed in the Mirror (though these days i don't know why to be honest).

Maybe if he had his photo took with a copy of "The Scum" he could also aspire to be a labour prime minister, with a Doncaster constituency? I know who is the tackier of the two.....

Maybe if LT joined the Tory party and donated a few million to them the Daily Mail would be singing the praises of DRFC.

He might also get a knighthood  ;)
