ECU Remap
« on July 18, 2014, 01:45:11 am by Filo »
Had the X3 remapped today, took it from 150Bhp to 185Bhp, what a difference it makes, awesome acceleration and at the moment 9 miles per gallon more fuel economy, well pleased with the results :)

I thought this was going to be a thread about Romania now being part of the United Kingdom and Luxembourg being swallowed up by Belgium.

I'd have to give it a bit more time for that, but I'm certainly impressed with the enhanced performance

makes you wonder why the original programming is set to make the car run slower and do worse MPG?  :s

I'm not a need for speed person, but I do like a car to have some bite when I ask it. If only the Turbo lag could be sorted now

I was thinking about having mine done. Did they just plug it in or did thy change the chip?

From Angel Tuning:

When a manufacturer releases a car into the market, the vehicle has to be able to cope with pressure coming from many different environments, by many different users, and all elements must be “off the shelf” to respond to many demands whilst still being economical to produce. For example, the car has to cope with possible poor fuel quality, dusty environments, poor servicing and at the same time provide reliability and economy. This has meant that, historically, manufacturers may ‘detune’ the engines to cater for all this. As the market is relatively compact, engines compete within certain ranges: they perform in a similar way. When the vehicle is sold in a variety of countries, it will have to be engineered so that it is still respectful of emission regulations, as well as a variety of weather conditions (heat, altitude, humidity, etc..). If the engine is mapped to produce, say, 105bhp officially, it will need to be mapped to hit its official figure in all countries where the car is marketed. Engine performance is therefore optimised for the countries in which the vehicle is sold. It is capable of more than it is mapped to do. Angel Tuning stretch that metaphoric ‘elastic band’, overcoming the state of compromised tuning most UK motorists know and experience with their cars.

He did it through the onboard diagnostic port, he plugs his gadget in and it extracts the software, he then emails what he's extracted to a bloke in Leeds who then re-writes the software and emails it back. The bloke then puts the re-written software back into his gadget and then puts it back into the ECU and jobs a good un, if the Fuel economy carries on to. Be good it'll pay for it's self in no time. Eco-power remaps in Armthorpe did mine

I don't need anymore bhp really but an extra 20% on the MPG would be handy as I only get about 32 on a good run.
