Presumably the month deal for Keegan is to buy enough time to sort out something longer term.

However I can only agree with those that are confused by some of the goings on. A young keeper on loan and a young right back on a short term contract don't seem to fit the strategy as it was set out.

It's a strange one, it takes him beyond the transfer window and to sign for some one as a free agent outside of the transfer window you have to have become a free agent during the transfer window I think

Off the top of my head I think the window closes on 1st September this year. Therefore his contract will expire on 31st August. I'll be surprised if we don't extend him though.

It's not that simple, if he becomes a free agent outside of the transfer window he can not sign for anyone until the next window, we had that exact situation with Meite last season

Good decision by the club. Basically, Wellens has 1 month to find a new club. So if he stays, I would imagine Keegan won't be offered new contract. If he goes (more than likely) Keegan will be offered a new deal. Common sense really.

He maybe knows whats going to happen in the next month, thats why hes signed.
