Penalties get saved and missed (worked in our favour last time we were in this league).  I'm sure Robinson is gutted but let's not get on his back about it.  It's a long season and we need well supported, confident players.

Look to me like the goalkeeper came forward before the ball was kicked tbh. Still, not a great penalty. There were 20+ decent penalties at Anfield on the other hand!  :woot:

Dreadful pen. As soon as we won it, I said to my dad "this must have forrester's name on it". He had been brilliant since he came on. Unfortunately theo got his hands on it...

I wonder who is our first choice penalty taker?

I think people should cut Theo a bit of slack still. Raheem Sterling missed a peno tonight...

You'd have thought Forrester would take them.

The people singing that Theo is not fit to wear the shirt are a disgrace. Same gang that sing "the VSC is full of shit". Whether Theo is good or not, he doesn't deserve abuse.

Not really sure he was,he didn't score while on loan at sheff united

and robinson has barely scored in about 13 months here

6 league goals in 23 league starts since he joined us. That is a perfectly respectable return. Not stellar, but not at all bad.

But hey, let's not let facts get in the way of another f***ing witch-hunt, eh?

He's just out of form, it happens to players. He was unplayable at times last season. QPR away springs to mind.

Is 1 in 4 for league starts and 1 in 5.5 in total is a respectable return for a striker? You're pushing it there me-old. If he offered something other than goals to the team (ala Brown) then maybe.

12 goals in a 46 match season is a perfectly respectable return. It's not astonishingly good, but it's reasonable. It's certainly not basket-case rate of return.

And it's actually better than Billy Sharp has an aged in the same period...

PS

Comparing him with Chris Brown is daft. Chris Brown is the best centre forward we've had in 30-odd years, probably more players like him come along once a generation. I agree that Robinson is nowhere near as good as Brown. But he's what we've got and he's a reasonable player when in form.

He's currently off form. But he doesn't deserve the abuse he's getting in here.

Form is something that happens over an 8-10 game period. Unfortunately, Theo has only scored twice this calender year.

How many league games has he started this calendar year?

Edit.

I'll save you looking. I've just looked it up myself.

Six league games he's started this year.

As I regularly say (although it never seems to hit home) a bit of context doesn't go amiss.

I feel a bit sorry for Robinson at the minute. He's not playing great, but he's clearly low on confidence. We've seen last year that he can do a job. He looked every bit good enough when he had a run in the side last year, and I reckon if we start to become a team that creates chances again (a la Saturday) that he would start putting a few goals in.

We all have our gripes with certain players (and managers) but calling/booing them at matches just because they're not performing well is unacceptable. I disagree with it even when there are question marks over the player's attitude (thinking of Kyle Bennett in the second half of the L1 Champions season), so for it to be happening to a player like Robinson who seems to be trying his hardest and by all accounts has a good attitude is disappointing. I don't know why I'm surprised though. The neanderthal/utter bellend mindset is commonplace within the Rovers support.

The context is he struggles to control the ball and doesn't score regularly enough to be either our main or lone striker. He hasn't started many games because of this. If we agree that at his best he is a 'reasonable' striker then he is currently below his best and not a reasonable striker.

Criticism of a player is not a vendetta on my part. If, when he is not scoring goals, he still looked bright and offered something to the team I would be much less inclined to criticise him.

Copps

He's started 6 league games in 9 months.

Cut the lad some slack.

That is the context that Theo's form can be viewed in I agree. He should never have taken the penalty though on the other hand.
A player who is not in form should not have taken or be given the responsibility
However great 2nd half display from Rovers and mention should be made of the way Copps led by example once Wellens was substituted.

Oh don't worry. He will get plenty of slack from me.

I do find it slightly curious that you're only judging him on league starts. How would that work for players like Kevin Phillips?

So do I. I wondered who would take it tonight, Theo wasn't one I thought of, but it wasn't easy to see any penalty taker on the pitch. Who should have taken it? I thought Copps at the time, captain and all.

Whats Wellens done wrong?

Nothing but he could do just a bit more right. Anyone would think he was lame judging by some of the comments on here.
Does he lead by example a la Copps , I don't think so .

Anyway back to Theo , I'm sorry for the hastiness of my remarks......players do miss penalties ; so no need to crucify the lad.
All in all as Fulham have always been my 2nd love, I can't complain about the eventual outcome. We put on an excellent comeback display last night that bodes well for the rest of the season. Going out of this cup , given the thinness of our squad is probably the best thing in the end.
As for my other love Fulham, I didn't want them to go on with their winless season ; so hopefully this will kick start their season.
All in all ( for me anyway) honours really even and both clubs can go on to bigger and better things .

It was fulhams 2nd win this year.
But they were really on the ropes 2nd half if theo had scored we would've won it,
I think they'll struggle to stop up
