Showbox seems pretty good, I've got it on my Kindle but don't really use it that often as I am a bit confused as to how something like that can be legal! Had it recommended to me by the guy who decorated my house and it was useful when we went abroad and there was hardly any English telly in the hotel but they had a decent wifi connection.

It's not just on Android either, you can get it to work on Apple things but (shock horror) it's a bit more of a pain in the arse to do.

Popcorn is also windows software. Both android and windows versions work using torrents, I think?
On a side note just got Google Chromecast for my TV. Pretty cool piece of kit. Android TV box might be next...

The M8 Android TV box is on my list for Santa.  I've had an Android TV stick for 2 years and it was OK,  but a bit underpowered.  The new boxes are more like proper mustard cutting devices,  even outputting in 4k.

I think the general rule is if it streams on your computer or tablet, the box will work fine.

pms is easy click on the username look down the left hand side and find the bit what says "send pm" now as for m8 I've googled it seen em on amazon but wtf do they do I think I sort of know

I can only get 2.4mb/s, as I'm a good distance from the exchange, is that fast enough? I suppose I could upgrade to fibre to cabinet, but that would come at a cost

I run on 37m on fibre  with ethernet cable and get about 2.2m wireless and that's with the kids xbox /ipod/ipad/phones and everything else going, well worth the bit extra especially with the deals that are around now

I installed this program last night and it worked intermittently. Great idea though. The only fly in the ointment was two processes were still active after I closed down the program. Maybe you can't stop the seeding once installed?

I'd guess they want as many people to seed as poss. It's one of those ideas that will only work if it becomes popular I'd imagine.

I've got an MXIII box Rob and it's pretty quick. Only use XBMC on it mind you. I've got Sky fibre broardband and there's no buffering.

Both Popcorn and Showbox use torrents and it's ridiculously easy to trace who's not only viewing, but also because of the way bittorrent works you also share what you're watching meaning in the eyes of a law you're as bad as anyone selling stolen goods.  With the soon-to-be-introduced measures for people using torrents and the gradual ramping up from copyright holders, I wouldn't touch it unless there was a way of routing it through a VPN first.

Didn't realise they'd added that since I last looked at it.  Just googled it and appears the general consensus is that it's slow and unreliable.  I'd also be concerned that when (and it is when) the copyright industry decides to take down the creators of Popcorn time then all their VPN logs will become viable which isn't the case when using a separate VPN product.

Popcorn time is fantastic, downloads are speedy and high quality mp4s, that play on anything.  Miles better than show box, and better content as well..

If anyone uses Popcorn Time, some UK ISPs have blocked the use of the API which presents the TV Shows in the grid.  Going through a VPN sorts it.
