In 99 other games that would be a goal.
Totally ridiculous law. Nobody knows from one game to the next what is and what isn't offside.
It shouldn't be down to what a linesman decides.

To me it should be offside everytime because let's be right he is interfering with play however now a days they linesman only ever seem to put their flags up if it touches the player

Robinson is offside, he's interferring with play by blocking the keepers sight, hate to say it, but the lino got it right, the t**t!

Don't disagree but how many times do you see the exact same thing in other games and the goal is given?
That is what is wrong with this stupid off side rule.

Like the great Bill Shankly used to say, if he isn't interfering with play he shouldn't be on the bloody pitch!

Having just seen it on Look North he's definitely offside for me.
Runs straight across the keeper so must distract him or block his view, and probably both.
Good decision unfortunately

Offside. Personally, I think it would be easier to do away with the offside rule. Active/inactive?

Assuming Theo is in an offside position when Kyle shoots, then this is correct, he's interfering.

You'd be pissed off if it was the opposition and a goal given.

the only person that complained was Carrol ........... nobody else from either team, and the lino eventually decided after being moaned at by an ex England superstar  :)  the ref ws in a good position and has its been previously said 99 games out of a hundred its a goal, exception being at Donny

It seems to me that the linesman thought a Rovers player was  offside, but wasn't interfering with play so kept his flag down. The referee saw that a Rovers player was obstructing the keepers view, but was unaware that the player was offside.

Therefore the goal was given, but was then rescinded because the Notts keeper Carroll objected to the linesman, who then raised his flag.

To summarise, the referee and the linesman initially made their judgement on what they each individually  saw, and then changed their minds when they corroborated their accounts of the incident, after intimidation from the Notts keeper!

So basically if my theory's right, neither of the officials saw anything wrong with the goal!

How much was the big screen a factor in the decision?

I was listening on player at the time. According to the commentary the linesman and ref were still consulting when the replay was shown. They then said that it looked like Robinson obscured Carroll's view.
A few seconds later the goal was disallowed.

Regardless of wether the officials looked at the screen or not, reply's shouldn't be shown until a final decision has been made

I didn't think replays of any contentious decision were allowed?

Either way, rightly or wrongly, I think unfortunately for us that offside was the correct decision.

It maybe didn't seem contentious when they showed it though.
Leeds used to have a former top level referee deciding what should and shouldn't be replayed.

It was shown as they were about to talk to each other so guess it took that long the goal was already about to be shown, then wellens went over pointing to the screen but by then it had already been played anyway
