Monday
« on December 13, 2014, 09:57:00 am by The Red Baron »
On Monday morning I shall be having surgery. I've had increasing amounts of pain in my leg since the beginning of November and two stays in hospital. I've now been diagnosed with Osteomyelitis, a serious infection of the femur (aka thigh bone.) They treat it by literally flushing the infection out of the bone and then by a long course of antibiotics.

So I will be out of action for quite some time, though I hope I'll be able to get to a few games before the end of the season. I'll keep you updated on progress.

Thank you for your kind replies. Hopefully later next week I'll be able to let you know how things are going.

It has been most painful and frustrating. The only upside is that it meant I missed last Tuesday's game!

Do you think you could get match fit quicker than Steve Brooker or Martin Woods ever did? :)

Hi John

Good luck. I hope you come out as well as I seem to be doing right now. A scary time. I've been lucky. I hope you are.

Still here after a long day in theatre. More operations to follow. It's going to be a long one.

Sounds like you have enough frustration and pain to deal with without rushing back for more at the Keepmoat.

Best of luck and fingers crossed all goes well

Massive setback last night. Still a bit too raw to give details. Now see what today brings.

Doesn't sound good - hope it's not too serious and that you're soon on the road to recovery, John.

Nurse punch your knackers when you tried groping her, did she?

EDIT

Apologies cocker. I usually find a bit of puerile humour helps when I'm at my lowest ebb. Good luck for getting through this.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to write this - but I'm going to. I have swapped several texts with John today. He is not going to be out of hospital  for a while. Certainly not before Christmas and it could be some while after that. From what I have heard I suspect we will all be lucky if we see John at another Rovers match this season.

It's not my business to give any details, but I hope you will all continue to pause from time to time to think of John. He has been a friend of the Rovers and plenty of its supporters for a very long time indeed. And right now he needs our friendship.

John: if you disapprove of this post, I am sorry. I will certainly delete it and apologise profusely if you wish me to.

Regards

BobG

Bob. No problem. All fine by me. I sent a longer post but managed to lose it. Hope to be back at Rovers before the end of the season.

Bloody hell John. You take as long as you need and get yourself right.

On the bright side, you've picked the right season...

The Rovers will still be here when you are well enough, you need to concentrate on yourself at the moment, theres always this forum and Rovers player (when it works) so you can have your fix

Thanks BST. I know your sense of humour and it isn't too far from my own if I'm honest. I'm still quite glad I read your post about the nurse this morning and not yesterday. My diseased thigh bone broke while I was lying in bed. Apparently it didn't come as a shock to the doctors but it did to me!

Fortunately in the overall scheme of things it hasn't set me back too far and I'm comfortable now.

I'll be following events at Swindon tomorrow. The forum is thoroughly depressing at the moment though!

Great result for the Youth Team last night. Now that cheered me up.
