I watch top gear because I find it entertaining, not for motoring news.  JC plays the prick on the show but I don't know him personally to judge him.

However I challenge the assertion that
Thanks to JC, Doncaster is now world famous.

I never see a big promotion for Doncaster via JC on top gear?

Doncaster is more famous for it's industry (in years gone by) and for the horse racing.

He did a marvelous job of promoting South Yorkshire during the Top Gear Reliant Robin episode. He has also promoted Rotherham as a top holiday destination. I think the programme was known as The Last Resort.

Neither of those examples promoted Doncaster specifically though.

If I wasn't already aware, watching top gear would give me no idea where JC is from.

Good on him it was a bit of fun,why are we so politically correct in this country, don't say this in case we offend them and stuff it's pathetic, the Argentinians would not think twice about doing something like this, the crew who went over there will have known about this and new the risks which I think were prob quite minimal

What's the next 'bit of fun'? Filming in Israel with a NAZ1 plate, perhaps? Ribtickling stuff, I'm sure you'd agree.

I personally think Clarkson is brilliant, he is very clever in his humour and its very funny.

I enjoy it even more because the pathetic loony left bed wetting brigade get in such a frenzy over it. 😆
But what I cant understand is why get so worked up over nothing?

Its brilliant.

As I said. He's a bell end making obvious, second-rate humour which appeals to certain people. Case in point here...

Every generation has stars who make a fortune by serving up shit, stereotyping humour which appeals to people who find shit stereotyping humour hilarious, and which looks quaintly thick to future generations.

People used to roll in the aisles at Jim Davidson doing the Chalky White act. Ho-ho-ho. All blacks are pimps with weird accents chucking hilarious and deeply perceptive humour. Clarkson's a chip from the same block.

Let's get one thing straight. JC is very intelligent, very witty and very humorous. The reason you lefties hate him is because he is very right wing. That's the only reason.

Most of them you mention, and also Jim Davidson among others.

Davidson's act was no more racist than Leonards Rossiter's Rigsby. And was no more offensive towards black people than John Cleese was towards people with limps, Eric Morecambe towards people against same sex bed sharers, Ronnie Barker towards people with stammers, Frankie Howerd towards sexism, Tommy Cooper towards serious magicians or Graham Chapman towards Yorkshiremen living in shoe boxes, or Christians for suggesting Jesus was really called Brian.

Humour has to be put in context. What was funny in the 1970's may now appear offensive to us in the present day. Allowances have to be made.

I caught a bit of the 'Battle of Britain' film the other day and couldn't believe it when a dog in it was called the 'n' word. That was his name and it was perfectly acceptable back then to name your dog this if it was black. Fair play to the BBC for not editing this out. Imagine these days the looks of horror if you went out with your black dog and had named it the 'n' word and was shouting here 'n' fetch the ball.

What about Fawlty Towers. IMHO the finest comedy series there has ever been. Judged by today's standards a lot of it would now be classed as politically incorrect and racist. Like I say, you lefties need to put things in context and stop having double standards and being so serious about everything. You'd feel a lot better for it.

As a general rule of thumb, I reckon you can assess when someone is talking complete b*llocks if their posts get "liked" by people who talk complete b*llocks.

So everyone who disagrees with you is talking complete b*llocks then!

Your last post, and your claim that Clarkson's a bell end who makes humour for bell ends, is testimony to the typical way you react towards people who disagree with you on this forum. It is a clear indication that you generally consider people who oppose your opinion, or like something that you don't, as just bell ends who talk b*llocks!............

I find it surprising that given the hundreds of reasonable opinions and facts I've posted on this forum BST has not agreed with hardly any of them!

No. I didn't remotely suggest that anyone who disagrees with me is talking b*llocks.

However, I DID say that if you say something that Mick likes, chances are you're talking b*llocks.

Hang on. I've lost the thread here. A few posts ago, you were complaining that people who complain at idle, offensive stereotyping humour were po-faced do-gooders.

But then that's the thing about idle, offensive stereotyping. It's only funny when it's aimed at someone else.

Hang on a minute. There was no reference to Mick in your original inflammatory post. 'I reckon you can assess when someone is talking complete b*llocks' is totally different to 'I DID say that if you say something Mick likes chances are that you're talking b*llocks.'

Get an abject apology sorted and we'll say no more about it.

Clarkson's a bell end who makes humour for bell ends. His stock in trade is very obvious jabs at self-righteous liberal types. There's a role for that humour. It's not massively clever or innovative but plenty of people lap it up.

My real grouse with him is not that. That's just being a second rate comedian. My grouse is the several newspaper articles and TV programmes that he's made about South Yorkshire. He's from here. And he makes deliberate, nasty, stereotyping digs at the place he came from, for other people's amusement. That puts him on a par with the black house servants who would perform for their white masters' amusement by taking the piss out of the shortcomings of their own kin.

He's a pathetic Kitson and I'd gladly punch his f***ing lights out for that reason alone. But I suspect he's actually a very needy man. I guess he feels a need to apologise for and belittle the place he came from. And in that sense, I suppose we should pity the tosser.

I'd be grateful if you could prove your comment. Shouldn't be too hard to find 10 articles. Evidence man. Where is it? I thought you prided yourself on backing up your fatuous statements.

I'm still waiting for your 'evidence'. Look, I'll make it easier for you. I'll drop the number required to 5 from 10. You don't have to do them all at once. 1 a week will do. Just do me a favour and get on with it man. I'll even let your leftie mates help out. I can't be fairer than that.

Hahaha, this thread is hilarious.

The irony is lost on these lefties. If they didn't get so wound up about Clarkson's humour, he would become less funny. Alot of his act is laughing at the lefties and the daily mirror for getting so worked up about him.

f**king brilliant stuff!

Yes, fair play to the BBC for their editing......seeing as how it was on Channel 5....

The name of the dog was changed to Trigger when the film was shown on its original release in America in the 50's.
