1998 Channel 5 Documentary "They think it's all Rovers"
« on January 22, 2015, 11:11:01 am by RM452 »
Was going through some old stuff on the computer and found this documentary from 1998.  It was originally on Channel 5 and shows the dark days as the club dropped out of the league.  Interesting to watch it again 17 (!!) years on.
I've uploaded it to the website if anyone wants a look.

Definitely seen that lad at Rovers recently. Used to go with his dad who was spitting image.

On the subject of old Rovers related viewing, does anyone know of any way I can get hold of some classic Rovers matches on DVD? I'm thinking matches like the Conference Play off games, some of the games from the Division 3 title winning season, the Endsleigh Trophy game against Farnborough, and the League 1 playoff games.

I recall the club used to produce their own DVDs and sell them in the club shop but I can't find any copies anywhere. I'd be happy to make a contribution to cover anybody's time and materials if they were able to produce me some copies. Clearly I could never suggest they do so for commercial gain.....

Is "Ashes to Glory" still available?  That covers most of the period you're after, in snippets.

Well done for everyone who took part back then may those bad days be a distant memory

Not Rovers related, but I'd recommend watching "Jack to a King" which documents Swansea City's rise from division four and Vetch Field to their new ground and the Championship play off game. Very professional, but a proper fans film.

Spotted myself in that at 44 mins having an angry rant at Weaver just before he was asked to leave by the Police.

You gotta say that he was a thick skinned t**t.....

As far as I know he lives on the Isle of Man now. Weaver is still active in local football circles in Cheshire.

A job for when I get home and can get up the stairs but I have loads of Conference era stuff on video. Will dig out and list on here.
