Any antiques experts on here?
« on February 23, 2015, 09:55:43 am by Bentley Bullet »
I've just bought an old cabinet at a car boot and after getting it home and removing the drawers I discovered what look like Roman numerals along the inside of the back.

Not being familiar with Roman numerals can anyone tell me what the letters MFI relate to?

Thanks in advance.

You are dead right Mike. Sorry. In the white hot heat of the creative process I completely forgot the depths of their depravity. I have slapped my face 3 times in penance.

Cheers

Seriously though, I've had some right bargains of the bloke who sold me the Roman cabinet. I once bought an old painting of a Lincolnshire town off him. The daft bugger only charged me £200, obviously he'd not noticed  the name 'Gainsborough' on the bottom of the picture. Amateur!

Wow BB, don't you know what you have there? It's obviously the travelling chest belonging to

Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, Loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius,

Who as you know is.....

Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife,

( And He will have his vengeance -- in this life or the next.)

The M stands for Maximus, the F for flip flops  and the I means it's his first set of draws........  :coat:
