Legends game

For those that didn't go today - you missed a great day.

Yes it was expensive, probably too expensive - but it's the most enjoyable experience I have had at the Keepmoat for a long time and really reminded me why I go to football.

Before kick-off some great reminders with footage of the past on the big screen.

The players came out and it brought some great memories flooding back, supported by Ryan SOD etc.  Fantastic

The game was played in a great spirit with laughing and little wind-ups  - Greenie jumping all over Copps, then Ryan megging Copps, and Copps reaction had us in stitches. Even PD got in on the act and showed a fun side.

Goals from hero's such as fortune-west, Sharp, Price etc. singing their names again, great..

Really good fun - even the screaming girls and Tommlinson were not a distraction.

Finally all the players brought the kids on the pitch, and waved and thanked the fans - just like we had won a cup final - but kinda of a FIFA's Donny masters team

Thanks Copps  - you, yourself are a true legend!

 :that:

My 7 year old and her 9 year old friend came to watch Louis Tomlinson (albeit well away from the screaming teens) and left singing oh Jamie Jamie, Jamie Jamie Jamie Jamie Coppinger, Billy Billy Sharp and asking when they can come to another game. Great, enjoyable family fun, money raised in a great cause and to see JJ, Billy, stocky, et al in action again was brilliant!

A master class from Brian Stock today that rolled back the years.
John Doolan pinged a few nice ones about as well.
A very enjoyable game to see so many heroes return.

Echo the above sentiments.
How brilliant to see SOD JR and others get a brilliant ovation.
Was told the actual attendance was 3992 and I loved it. Watching my old heroes rolling back the years.
Copps was superb with the fans as normal and Sharpy just ran and ran and loved the ovation he received.
Well done Copps.

One thing struck me today.

All those teams were full of great players, signed from non-league/bottom league clubs: Copps, Doolan, Stock, Macca and all the rest. Sure they had limitations, but all could play football properly and with heart and commitment. We didn't pay big money for any of them.

What happened to all that then?

Great day and was brilliant to see some real legends play again - possibly for the last time.

I felt a bit sorry for SOD though. I know he doesn't do public appearances that much, but he just looked really awkward and uncomfortable being there, probably due to the way he left and how he clearly doesn't see eye to eye with JR. Was good to give him a big cheer and a round of applause though for the job he did here.

Was a shame that a few of the players didn't show up too. I wonder why Fozzy, Oster and a few others didn't end up playing?

Fair play. Didn't see him but it's great to see so many of Copps' ex team mates were so supportive, even those who didn't make it on to the pitch.

It was a great afternoon and an education for my 11 year old with some of the players from way back. He was just delighted that he got to see Sulivan again who is his favourite ever player!

Thought Charlie Wellens looked a good prospect, have we signed him up yet? Took it passed Andy Warrington to score with ease

Did I not read some time back ( possibly in a drunken state ) Penney and Walker were to "manage " one team and O'Driscoll and O'Kelly the other, seen photos of the latter, so I guess the former didn't happen.

Dave Penney looked quite swarth in a nice jacket. The limpet with the stupid grin was full of me, me, me as usual.
