Sarge
« on April 20, 2015, 09:24:38 am by JBRover »
It was great to see Brighty turn out yesterday. One of my favourite Rovers players, just loved his no nonsense approach and those crunching tackles.  And the legendary moment when he had Joey Barton by the throat during the pre-season friendly against Man City, great memories.  Brighty seemed to be around for ages but only actually played 80 ish games for us.  I was genuinely excited about every game in those days, unfortunately I can't say the same thing now.  What those players lacked in talent they made up for in determination and hard graft.  I know the Keepmoat is a better stadium but Belle Vue just had something that got me buzzing and as much as I enjoyed yesterday, it is tinged with a little sadness, will we ever see the likes of Tim 'shoot' Ryan, Brighty, Leo, Andy Warrington, Doolan, Blundell, Greeny, Marps and Copps on the same pitch again : (   One final thing, surely Stocky is too good for Waterlooville......isn't he or am I being too sentimental wishing he was a Rover again?  Fantastic day, loved it!!

Hasn't Stocky started some sort of business around Waterlooville preparing for when he finally hangs up his boots. Sure I read it somewhere, although considering my memory these days, I could be well wide of the mark.

Brian Stock if I remember right didn't waste a ball throughout the game.
People moan about our pitch but he was arrowing balls all over the pitch.
He reminded me of King Alick the way he picked players out with ease who were 30 or 40 yards away. His control was first class as were his little flicks and short passes.
He was a true example yesterday. It's a shame that we don't have anyone like that now but there again England don't either.

Albrighton played well as did Tim Ryan. I think Sarge is still playing non league somewhere.

The players of today and yester year showed as you say there is nothing wrong with the pitch. It was great to see goals scored and good football by players we have watched for years.

its stockys wifes business down south which he too is involved in suits him just to be part time player now and that basically came by accident, just was training with Waterlooville to help out a friend when they asked him to play
