Jogging Clubs
« on July 09, 2015, 05:04:29 pm by jonnydog »
Me and r lass are looking for a local jogging club to join in and around Hatfield. We're both beginners to jogging/running although she joined the Doncaster Pacers group near the lakeside however, due to other commitments can't attend there now at the relevant times.

So, if anyone knows of any others that run around this end of Donny (Hatfield, Edenthorpe etc...) then any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

A mate of mine runs Danum Harriers, they meet at the Sportsman pub on Armthorpe Road every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:45pm I think, if that's any good? They are a good group, I'll be joining myself once I move to Donny in the next couple of months. At the moment I'm with Sheffield Running Club but swapping my membership over.

There was something in the Thorne monthly paper about a group from the new pub at Capitol Park. A bit more social and they go for a beer after. Also Park Run at Sandall Park on a Saturday morning is a good event to give you something to aim at and improve your time.

The Sandall Park one is Parkrun at 9am on Saturdays. Great atmosphere, usually 100-150 runners of all abilities. Well worth doing and totally free. Just register online and get a barcode.

I'll be back at Doncaster park run in a few weeks now I've moved back to Donny.  I find park runs a good event and good to do every week to see improvement.

I'm still torn on joining a running club, but I'm very tempted.

I'd also recommend installing Starva or a similar app on your phone so you can track your progress on your runs and challenge yourself to improve over time.

If you see an old bald chap dragging his young lad round at the back of the park run tomorrow, that will probably be me. "Just a bit further!"
