I'll start seeing as it's my idea.......

I'm going to be a bit controversial here when I say ALL Northern Soul bands in general. Well considering Northern Soul probably consists of just the one band of failed Motown musicians, churning out the same tune to different words for different artists to sing, with that distinct under water sound, it's probably not controversial at all.

Tne Rolling Stones.

Saw therm in the mid 70's about a week after I saw the Who and they were crap in comparison. But worse, I saw them again in the late 90's. They mst have spent a zillion quid on the set. Grandiose and nasty. And all they played was the hits. Hit after hit after hit. It's nice enough to hear Brown Sugar I suppose, but there was absoluitely no development in the band. Nothing. Just 25 years of old stuff. I saw Wishbone Ash around the same time. They played some of the old stuff too, but they played recent stuff too. Some of it was good too. They had continued to be a band - not the blank cheque the Stones had become.

And that flobber gob with the mlic has always been crap anyway.

In my opinion you are completely wrong there Bob.
I saw them at the Gaumont about 1965 and they were great. Cost 7/6d then and they were great.
I next saw them 2003 cost about £62:50 but worth every penny. Fair enough they may not have moved on much recently but they can still play classic tracks for hours; plus they are older than me. 😜

I realise that there isn't much I really dislike. I never really got Prog Rock so the likes of Floyd and Yes are not really favourites. I would also go some distance to avoid a folk concert and am not keen on C&W.

I'm a bit divided on The Stones. They did some great stuff in their early days, but they never really evolved. They have certainly outstayed their welcome. The same can probably be said of U2.

Re Northern Soul. I was practically brought up on it, but when you listen to it again you realise there are a few great songs and tunes and a lot of mediocrity.

Not a fan of Rhianna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and identkit boybands. Seen it all before! As an earlier poster said re LG, Madonna did it earlier and better.
