Williams movement is there. It's just a case of our passing players getting used to his runs and providing the balls. We've played Bury, Wigan, and Leeds all decent opposition. Next three games - Southend, Port Vale and Fleetwood - you'd expect us to score more goals.

We can't expect Williams to score all the goals. Coppinger is woeful in front of goal and Wellens just will not shoot.
Most of our best efforts on goal came from corners with Mackenzie co9ming closest.
He was a constant threat at every corner.

Strictly speaking Harry's goal was in open play. It was just a tad unintentional  (so he says!)

Thats what I don't get with wellens. He has it in his locker as we have seen. I dont think he's got a goal bonus just an assist bonus. He gets plenty of great chances to shoot but looks for a pass.

Yeah but we were going nowhere and the foul was a needless one. We have to score against Southend. End of.

Prime example (albeit some time ago now) vs Swansea away in 2007/8, two almost identical 25 yarders from Wellens won the game for us.

that's why we need a cm who can score and you never going to score a lot with 1 up front, set pieces are also a problem, we concede more than we score, better now Jones back he seems to clear our lines from corners and free kicks, but for me me we should be scoreing more from set plays

One man looks at the glass and thinks it half empty.

Another looks at the glass and thinks it half full.

I look at the glass and think, "whose round is it?"

Williams looks like he is starting to get up to speed, the goals will come.

I think we should be more pleased at how defensively solid we seem. We know better than anyone that you can win this league by being solid at the back.

Think Williams is just wound on a bit too tight at the moment and trying almost too hard. He was fuming with himself at the misses yesterday but he will come good. Movement and pace is all there.
Shots from our mid is a bit more troubling. Neither Copps, Wellens and now even Harry Forrester seem to want to have a pop at goal. The instructions might all be to get it to Williams now but any of those lads are capable of a handful each.

I thought Copps and HF were happy to shoot vs Leeds, but didn't really trouble the 'keeper.

I'd rather have them shoot and miss, than not shoot at all.

Obviously I watch Rovers more than any other team by some distance but this "pass vs shoot" issue is one I've never really noticed in other games or from opposition. I see plenty of typical occurences from other teams where one player ends up rollocking another player for shooting instead of playing a sensible pass but I really struggle to recall it happening in a Rovers match. I always used to think it was a SOD thing (partly because he encouraged possession football and partly because under DP we'd attack from all angles) but it seems something that barring the odd player (Cotterill) we seem to have a midfield and full backs who rarely fancy a pop from 25+ yards. Obviously if they know they haven't got the technique to do it then they make the right decision by passing but I can't help but think at this level its worth a go in some circumstances.

Chances are being created and with a bit more composure the goal tally could look quite healthy.

As said, we could up the attempt rate if we took more opportunities to shoot with reasonable distance. The more you practice the luckier you get!

Still not a goal scored from open play.

No but we are being pedantic.  Open play earned the penalty opportunity.

I saw the highlights clip from Wigan, it is not as if we are not creating good chances either - from open play.

Carry on like this and the goals will come.
