Glazers take a cut
« on September 17, 2015, 08:15:18 pm by albie »
At ManUre;
Manchester United to pay Malcolm Glazer’s six children £15m every year | Football | The Guardian

Not Rovers related I know, as DRFC will never deliver a profit.

But its a winner for the Glazers. Use the resources of the club to fund the acquisition, then take a salary for the service rendered.

Magic eh!

Financial gymnastics I call it. I think there may be darker days ahead for Man U.

We can hope.
Maybe if a Man Unt. implode spectacularly if may mean the FA or EUFA actually do something to restore some trust and pride in the top level game.

Geoffrey Richmond took something like 7 million pounds from Bradford City and the walked away. They were left owning nothing. They didn't own players. The best ones belonged to a German bank. They didn't even own the carpets or turnstiles.
They are still recovering now. If the Rhodes family hadn't left their millions in they would have gone under.
The other thing that kept them going was Ashley Ward accepting 10p in the pound on his wages. He took a pay off of £75,000 instead of £750,000.
A bigger Premiership club might have made more headlines at the time.

I don't have a problem with them taking a divided, except that they borrowed money against the value of the club in order to buy it.

I would imagine once United ceases to be a nice little earner for them they'll move on and leave the club saddled with debts.

Someone else will come and buy them. United are a money making machine, the biggest club In Britain. Even if the Glazers do leave they will be fine.

Didn't they restructure the debt last year to a much better deal? They are spending more money mow than ever so they can't be skint.

They are on the verge of being the richest side in the world, the sponsorship deals, gate money, merchandising all over the world, fifteen million is nothing, to the money they are making.
As long as they keep qualifying for champions league football then the money coming in will just keep growing, interestingly if you look at Van Gaal's incomings and outgoings in the transfer, especially this transfer window, he has recouped much of the money spent.

The ethos of the club that Ferguson built is being destroyed, their success was built on three or four at least British players, usually brought through the youth system, the ''Never being beaten till the whistle blew'', isn't there Van Gaal.
Man utd have spent big in the transfer market, but not to the degree Van Gaal has, Ferguson at times was getting cheap signings, and when he did spend big, didn't spend wisely, Veron being a name that comes straight to mind!.

He managed to flog Veron for big money to Chelsea as well!

Even though Chelsea paid well over the odds for him at £15m given how he performed for Man U, it pales in comparison to the 30 odd million that Utd paid for him.

Fergie might have made a loss on Veron, but he more than made up for it with the profit on Ronaldo, bought for £12M sold for £80M, I make that £53M profit over the two deals

Very true but completely unrelated to the point I made, which was the "big money" that Veron was flogged for was still only half what they paid for him.

Veron was an absolute top class player that didn't settle in England. A bit like di Maria. Fergie also paid £30m for Rooney and they've had plenty of value out of him.
