SM.
If she takes a step back ignores the media hype. Remember her training and how UK carriers operate and are regulated.
She's more chance coming to grief on the hare and tortoise junction on the way to work than in the sky!
if however she flew out of there last week I can imagine her feeling a bit giddy and it may be this that's got her all flighty not the reality she's facing?

Why people continue to go on holiday to an unstable part of the world is beyond me

Breaking news

My sisterinlaw is stuck in Eygypt .They have just been informed that british tourists have returned to hotel after 2 hours stuck on bus.Rumours are rife that a surface to air missile has missed a british plane but there is a media blackout at the moment to confirm or deny this. What i can tell you is that they are getting the mushroom treatment from the reps out there and dependant upon us for information .

This I heard on the news yesterday, it was mentioned that it was from an Egyptian military exercise and not shot at the aircraft.

If its the suface to air missile that missed the thompson plane that was back in september. The pilots took avoiding action and it missed but the passengers were never told

how on earth would a pilot without any detection equipment on board see a surface to air missile coming towards him and how could he take evasive action without the people onboard knowing, God knows how this story made the news, cos that's all it is.

You can reassure her that there hasn't been a missile attack Proletarian, as dknward2 says that was in August and was a flare from a military exercise. Unfortunately what seems to have happened is that the government annoucing that it was 'probably a bomb' that brought the plane down and all flights to and from Sharm should be stopped, has annoyed the Egyptian government and they are now playing silly buggers and making it difficult for her and the other Brits out there to leave. Apparently there were planes that went out there on Friday only to be told there landing slots had been taken away.

Turkey have shot down a Jet which violated it's airspace near the border with Syria, Turkey is a member of NATO, lets hope the Jet wasn't Russian

EDIT: It turns out it was a Russian Jet, things could get nasty now, NATO could be on high alert, never trusted those Turks!

The Russians are saying it was brought down by a SAM but the turns are insisting it was their jets that shot it down. Looks like the Russians have given the Turks a n open door to deny involvement & save face but it's been slammed shut. Worrying times.

The Middle East is leading the world into WWIII if we're not careful, we've had lots of countries suggesting that they come together to defeat ISIS, but as of yet thats just all been hot air and all thats happening is every Country is flexing it's muscle and pushing the boundries, Cameron feels left out because at the moment he can't flex his muscles

A little bird has suggested to me, a little bird who really is in a very good position to know,  that economic matters inside Russia are really rather bad these days. The sanctions are biting hard I am led to believe. Now, if that were to be true, what is the one thing that no one in NATO should ever, ever, ever do?

Provoke the despot - that's what.

What do despots do when they are in trouble at home?

I live in hope that my informant is incorrect, or, that the despot has more self control than others of his ilk.
