I bet there's hardly anyone remembers an ancient black and white version of Robinson Crusoe. I think it was an overseas series that had been dubbed. The remarkable thing about it was the most amazingly haunting theme tune I've ever heard. I live in hope that I'll hear it again before I pop my clogs. It must date from the 60's or even earlier. It was repeated a few times on BBC when I was a boy but I've not seen sight nor sound of it for decades now. Anyone else remember ever seeing it?

Smiley's People is a good choice too Gloster.

Ahh Bob...our childhood eh ?

Robinson Crusoe, White Horses, Aeronauts & the one and only Flashing Blade......and who could forget Champion the Wonder Horse, Casey Jones, Whirlybirds, Skippy and Daktari

You've forgotten Circus Boy, with the young Mickey Dolenz..!

Never heard of it...

GBH with Robert Lindsay was a great series as far as I recall. Don't think it was ever repeated.

Common as muck and Band of Gold would also be good to see again. I was a boy when all three were on so only saw bits of them and I'd like to watch them again from an adult perspective.

Few examples of cartoon epics from my youth: ulysses 31, battle of the planets, mysterious cities of gold and dogtanian and the three muskerhounds - epics as a kid (probably really naff in all fairness! More serious kinda grown up stiff, airwolf, blue thunder, streethawk and the equalizer!

THIS!!!!  NOW!!!!!!

I watched it when it was on, and I sort of enjoyed it but it's one drama I don't think I'll ever be able to watch again. It was that tough on the nerves.

What was that drama series called about a newly wedded young girl whose psychopathic groom chopped off her head in order to preserve her image in her wedding Vail, and then buried it in the garden, and digging it up to view it a year later on the anniversary of the wedding?

Ah that was it, Brideshead revisited.

Glyn! Where on earth did you get dvds and an album from?! I thought I must be the only person left alive who remembered that series!

And didn't White Horses' have a good tune too? Now I'm going to have to go google that as well....

A local library (I think Donny has the soundtrack and Rotherham the DVDs) has them so I borrowed them and made my own copies. ;)

Thanks Filo. :)

I just been browsing IMDB. I should be bloody working....

This thread prompted me to search out that White Horses thing too. I take back what I said about its theme tune. Nasty sacharin thing. But I was intrigued by a few references to the star - Helga Anders. I vaguely remember a very pretty girl. She probably was. But she came to a very nasty end I've just read. Sad.

Beverly Hillbillies, the scene where the grandad put granny in the lift (he had never seen a lift before) and the doors shut and when they opened again a gorgeous woman walked out was classic.

Golden Shot

I've thought that surely, with internet/interactive technology they could revive this so that contestants can aim the crossbow live from their own home..?

The Rocket Man.  Every Christmas across the first week of the holidays on BBC2 in the morning.

Talking of which, there was always a run of Laurel & Hardy or Harold Lloyd on BBC2 in the mornings on school holidays.  They should definitely re-run those

I sat pondering, then it came to me quite quickly. As a child the only programmes I would never miss seeing, were Wagon Train and Rawhide. Guess that's why I now work for a "Cowboy Outfit".
