Looking for a gym in Doncaster since I live here again now and need to sort out a few issues? Any recommendations or places to avoid?

Just set up a gym in my garage, £10 a month membership, plenty of weights, cross trainer and a vibro machine, if your afraid of spiders though it might not be for you!!  ;)

In all seriousness though I don't think you can go wrong with the gym at the Keepmoat, small but has everything you need and never busy!

I've been looking for somewhere too.  Spent a lot of time visiting and seeking reviews.  Its likely I'll join the DCLT gyms so I can access any of their gyms in Doncaster.  The one at Adwick has had a recent refurb and looks good, the one at Dearne Valley is fairly new equipment too.

Previously I was a member at Xercise4less and although I've not had any issue with them it appears a lot of people have. I think they were featured on Watchdog recently.

Depends what you want. As an 'all rounder' you can't beat the dome. If you want to get into weights more, new bodies is quality.

I like the dome though as the membership also includes classes. Didn't think I'd ever cope with it but circuit training has improved my health massively and it's free with the DCTL membership.

I pay £10 a month for life if I want it at Fitness Flex and that includes classes although not a great choice. Big plus is that the showers are always red hot👍🏼 big downer is that you pay for parking 8am-6pm so I go before work.

I recommend DCLT. The circuits are great. Plenty of gyms knocking around, too. Some better than others. I go to Armthorpe myself and its great for cardio but not so much in terms of free weights etc.

I could do with losing a couple of ounces me'sen but I'm not sure if lifting weights is the answer. After all, if humping  weight about burns off calories, why aren't fat bas**rds slim?

I can't stand Armthorpe. I drive past it on the way to the dome haha

Again depends on what you want
Cheap and cheerful - xercise 4 less £10 per month
Why do good gyms tend to be upstairs especially when doing a good leg workout

I gave up on gyms years ago and just go running or out on my bike. I was a member at Bannatynes at Bramley and went to about 3 spin classes a week for months, then when I actually went on my bike again after the winter found it had done nothing at all for my real life bike fitness, so I sacked it off. Only time I've had a membership since then was when I was training for the Outlaw this year and I needed somewhere to swim, so joined Maltby on a swim only package until it was warm enough to swim outside.

For me it's not just saving money, it's a time thing too. If I've got a spare 30 minutes I can run 4 miles. You can spend that long just driving to and from the gym, getting changed etc and you've got nothing to show for it.

I'm amazed at people going to xercise 4 less - go to gym to get fit yet park their cars outside parking bays so they can be closer to entrance

Go for walks regular, drink plenty of fluids, that way the fat will drop off as it should, your body will tone up gradually, then you won't be left with sagging skin because you tried to work it off too quick.
Walking takes longer, it takes months and months, but it's more likely you will keep going with it, you can eat what you want within reason, and it won't cost you anything only shoe leather.
Get some dumbells and gradually work up how many reps you do, write it down keep a record of how many each day. Go for a three or four mile walk 3-4 times a week, dumbells 3 times a week when you come back on the same day as the walks, then the rest 2-3 days are rest days, to allow the body to change it's shape.

Despite my username which is ironic as I'm not actually big at all, weight isn't an issue.  Sadly I need to join a gym to strengthen after an injury.  Thanks for the recommendations. If I'm honest I'd prefer somewhere not to busy and chilled out. Think I'll give the council gyms a go.

Sorry i offended you yorkshire, if it's an injury then you probably would benefit from the expert advice the gym could give.
I have heard the one at Campsmount Academy is supposed to be good, never been myself, but i have heard you can pay as you go, rather than be contracted, whether that's true still i am not sure.

Not offended at all don't worry. I've got physio so I know what to do really it's just doing it.  The weather this week certainly helps want to join a gym rather than running outside.
