Trump

Yes.

Duncan Fart...he of the amazing corrugated hair.
Is it the beginning of a new trend for the toupee comb-over?

An American Boris Johnson who will say anything to win a vote, or a dyed in the wool nutcase and threat to civilization as we know it.

Over to you. Discuss.

I'm still hoping it's an elaborate Saturday Night Live skit.

Fair play to Donald Trump for managing to make what's on top of his head slightly less hideous than what's inside it.

Trump has already lost next years election for the Republicans, and they know it.

He makes Boris look like Einstein!

He isn't a threat because he won't get anywhere near the Presidency. Although he's ahead in the polls, I actually doubt he'll end up on the Republican ticket. His lead is due to his outspokenness and because there are so many candidates. Next year some will drop out and there will end up being a face off between Trump and someone more mainstream.

He has probably damaged the prospects of the Republicans, although what they were really scared of was Trump running as an independent. That would have split their vote down the middle.

Just as Trump is good news for the Democrats though, we shouldn't forget that the Republicans have their own, pardon the pun, trump card in Hillary Clinton. She is the one factor that could unite the Republicans because they loathe her. She's had practically a free run so far, but that won't be the case next year.

PS. Anyone concerned about the prospect of a right-wing, populist demagogue becoming President of a major Western nation should forget about Trump and look across the Channel.

TRB

I think you are underestimating Trump's appeal to the white lower-class Republican mainstream voters. I think it's far from certain that he'll be overtaken next year.

As for this side of the pond, we already have a quasi-fascist demagogue in power: Victor Orban in Hungary. Unless Germany sees sense and changes the EU economic direction, there'll be half a dozen more by 2020.

I'd take Reagan over Thatcher, tbf.

Between Trump and Carson, it'll be difficult for the Republicans to come out of this with any credibility whatsoever.

Trump is just mental, shouldn't be let anywhere near office.  I just hope he doesn't believe what he says...

I must admit, the idea of Trump sitting down for a face-to-face with Putin has the potential for pure comedy gold. If the fate of the world wasn't at stake, and all that.  ;)

Despite how loony he looks to folk outside the US, I have a sneaking suspicion that the fartster may have played it right.

He is looking to secure the republican nomination, as first base. Best way to do that is to verge to the loony right. Once the nomination is trousered, Republicans will be more or less obliged to sing to his hymn sheet. He will then veer back towards a more moderate position, to harvest the votes of the persuadable in the big punch up with Hilary.

He could also be a secret agent of the Democrats, sent in by the Clinton camp to fatally undermine the prospects of the Bush dynasty. A kind of suicide candidate primed to detonate under Jeb.

None of which excuses his hair, which has clearly been nicked from goalkeeping icon Billy the Fish, the Viz hero.

Can he turn a last minute penalty round the post?
I doubt it.

Trust me, he seems plenty mental to those within the US too.
Who would have thought that 30% or so of the hardcore Republican party membership were as crazy as he is?
