Absolutely dreadful, weak and had no control over the game especially when it came to their constant fouling and timewasting tactics.

Petty fouls - took no action.
Serious fouls - rarely took action.
Timewasting  - took no action.
Judgement of 10 yards - pathetic.
Control of game - none.

His decision not to book several players in the first half, led to challenges being made, that booked players would not be able to make for fear of being sent off.
Referees DO alter the course of a game, when they are as weak as this.

Hard to believe it this chap has been let loose on a couple of Premier League games this season and has been talked of as being promoted back to the top flight. Had little control over the game and allowed Scunthorpe to slow down the game throughout the second half. A very poor performance.

Stuart Attwell has as much understanding of football as Winifred Attwell and she is deceased !!

Couldn't believe how bad he and his 'Assistants' were. Lino on the west side must not be able to see more than 5 yards.

Nigel, i can't remember who it was but someone told me earlier this season that refs do not affect the outcome of games.

I've seen Attwell twice on TV in the last week and (shock, horror) both times he's had good games. However in both games both the teams have tried to play football.

The times I have seen him perform really badly, including Boxing Day, have been where one team has tried, by whatever means, to stop their opponents playing. His light touch style is only really suited to an open contest with few fouls and little in the way of spoiling tactics.

A really good referee, of course, can adapt his approach to suit the mood of the game.
