Small but notable fact
« on December 26, 2015, 12:58:13 pm by Chris Black come back »
Rovers are one of only two clubs ever to reach the final of FA Youth Cup and have never played in the top tier. Given that the other was Chesterfield in the 1950s, our achievement in 1988 was really quite something special.

Remember it well Kevin Campbell tore us a new one in first leg
Be interesting to know how careers went from there

Campbell was the difference and went on to make over 300 appearances in total for Arsenal and Everton
If he'd played for us we would have won because I don't think they had anyone else as good as Brevett, Rankine and Raven.

From Wiki...

Arsenal
No.      Position   Player
1   England   GK   Alan Miller
2   England   DF   Lee Francis
3   Scotland   DF   Jim Carstairs
4   England   MF   David Hillier (Capt.)
5   England   DF   Al Hannigan
6   Northern Ireland   DF   Steve Morrow
7   England   MF   Neil Heaney
8   England   FW   Francis Cagigao
9   England   FW   Kevin Campbell
10   England   DF   Steve Ball
11   England   MF   Gary McKeown
Sub   England   MF   Ray Lee
Sub   Republic of Ireland   DF   Pat Scully
Doncaster Rovers
No.      Position   Player
1   England   GK   Lee Lamont
2   England   DF   Mark Hall
3   England   DF   Rufus Brevett
4   England   DF   Steve Raffell
5   England   DF   Paul Raven
6   England   MF   David Snowball
7   England   MF   Andy Peckett
8   England   MF   Mark Rankine
9   England   FW   Neil Morris
10   England   FW   Andy Winship
11   England   MF   Steven Gaughan
Sub   England   MF   Lee Slingsby
Sub   Scotland   FW   Robbie Stewart

The ones highlighted are the ones from the Arsenal side who IMO went on to have decent careers - maybe not as many appearances as Ranks, Brev or Raven but certainly at a higher level.

Yeah and West Ham too I believe.

Shoulda worded it for a longer prolongued period of time at a higher level perhaps!

Brevett was amazing for us - still my all time favourite Rover!
