He's been training with them for a fortnight and played in a private practice match at Newcastle yesterday.

He's mad. He's had more than enough warnings. Either that or he owes big money somewhere...

Hartlepool is very handy for him. He only lives just down the road.

Could well be what Jones needs this should give him the game time which he craves for.If successful could lead to a decent contract somewhere next season or tell him his time is up as a player I wish him luck

I would have thought he's had medical advice and has been told he can carry on playing.

If he had been advised to stop playing he would have been eligible for an insurance payout.

Not just presumptuous but not something anyone should be suggesting on a forum.

Very good signing for Hartlepool, even if he doesn't play the remainder of the season, he will be good in the dressing room for them.

So sayeth the prize idealogue Yorkie. And yes. I repeat, he's either mad or broke. Let's assume it's your neck Yorkie, or yours John. You willing to play on at the age of 36 or whatever it is now with the history he's got - even with the best medical advice? Just think: that one chance in a thousand. Paralysed. For life. Easy decision for you though obviously.

I'm fairly sure his club wouldn't allow him to play unless he was fit. This isn't the 1970s anymore. Suggesting he's in debt seems an odd thing to bring up, especially as you're basing it on nothing at all.

Cheers.

I have no idea if he's in debt or not. My original post was clearly a speculation on what possible reasons there could be for him choosing to play again. And you miss the point about the balance between certainty and risk in my second post Sad.

Cheers

Then why not speculative that he wants to buy a new car or go on holiday? Or that he still feels fit to play?

Alternatively, if you really feel like speculating why not speculate he has an addiction to class A's and hookers?

Cheers,

Sad R.

He loves playing i would think is the reason. Hartlepool will become very reliant on him if he stays fit, just like we did for a time.
He is the last generation of proper centre halves, didn't worry about his hair(didn't have any), he would put his head in a bear trap if there was a ball there, wasn't really fussed which way his nose pointed.
A proper good old fashioned english centre half, 'Pure English oak'!.

I don't think I need to say too much about your thought process in your initial post. It has already been said by others on this thread. Maybe you should try putting your brain in gear before posting uncalled for insinuations about anyone's personal finances.

We don't know what advice he has had. Last year he saw a specialist. In my experience most of them err on the side of caution (because of the possible consequences). If the specialist had any doubts about Jones's fitness to continue to play professional football I am sure he would have advised him to retire.

How many of us follow advice, like many on here during life's strife..When have we ever listened. I put my hand up for not doing so, and the mess I am in says it all
