Horrible for something like that to happen to someone so young.

I worked with a lass who developed MS aged 27. Although she put a bloody brave face on, she had some terrible days with it. They've made some really promising breakthroughs just recently which will hopefully develop into a permanent treatment.

MS is basically a malfunction of the immune system which identifies nerve coatings as a disease and attacks them. Effectively the new treatment is a hard reboot of the immune system in which it is destroyed completely and encouraged to redevelop. It must leave patients vulnerable to bugs in the process but it's encouraging progress.

Mike .. my wife has such a 'reboot' medication . The improvement in quality of life is marked but you have to learn to manage your life differently to take account of the dangers that the deficit in the immune system brings . As with all such illnesses the individual's fighting spirit seems to be enhanced .
May Ashleigh's fighting spirit long continue undiminished .
