Relegation and promotion
« on April 05, 2016, 10:32:50 pm by JonWallsend »
Think that's going to be six of each, barring a miraculous recovery, since 1981 and we are back in the bottom tier, where we were when I first started going in 1975, and in the division where we have spent the majority, albeit just, of my supporting life.

I was dancing in the stands at the Britannia because we were in the bottom tier and celebrating on the pitch or pop side at Belle Vue and Edgley Park in 81, 84 and 2004 at being promoted out of it.

I wouldn't change those seasons. As fans you have to take it on the chin and go again.

It has always been the way and we'll have more of both over the next 40 years. That's the way it is with Rovers

We'll be back.

Leyton Orient first game of the season anyone? Mansfield moment? Weird way of going round football.

My first game was a 2-4 loss in the 4th division.

At least we can look upwards and have success again - dunno when but onwards and upwards as they say.

It is a crying shame though that we couldn't capitalise on the probably once a century experience of three promotions in five years and a brand new stadium.

In my supporting life we have been a lot lower and a lot higher, but it is sobering to have us right back at the arse end of professional football once again - and to end up here in such a spineless and humiliating fashion.

On the upside Chris, some thing has been rotting away on the playing front for a few years now. It's all about building a decent squad for me and gaining 'momentum' - that stupid, unexplainable word in football. The number of teams who do the double promotion is quite high. Don't see any reason why we can't.

Posh did that with DF.

Would you trust Ferguson to be the man to do this huge rebuilding job?

I have pointed this out previously but this is a huge job in shifting out lots of players and bringing in lots - probably the biggest turnover since 1998 - in short order.

No good asking Ferguson to do this and build up a squad in his image (eg no recognised centre backs, 9 x wingers) only to have to sack him come October.

We have got to get the right man in the job before we can start the colossal rebuilding job.

I dunno CBCB

Our catastrophic run of form must have Fergie on thin ice.

I'm honestly not sure.

In the little opportunities I've had to speak with people at the club (to do with the kit competition and what not) they've all said the same thing - Darren has got some big plans for next season.

They're gunna have to be big plans in league two now.

Christ, if he's still here next season then we are pathetic.

Walking on thin ice? He's spent the last 3 months with oxy-acetylene torches strapped to both feet.

Oh good lord.

This talk of Ferguson and "big plans" has now got me worried. Very worried.

While I'm unsure on the Fergie front I just don't think it's the Donny way (in modern times) to employ a manager and not give them a pre-season.

Normally I would agree. This season, however, must be defined as exceptional circumstances and he must go.

We even gave Sammy Chung a final pre-season.

Then sacked him an hour before the first league game kicked off, mind.

But he had his pre-season.

Why would anyone trust these set of morons with finding the right manager?
