Hi all,
Me (Alan Roberts) and three others (my friends and fellow Rovers Fans, Neil Howe and Ryan Alcock, plus AN Other - TBC in the none-too-distant future) are playing 72 Holes of Golf in one day at Bawtry Golf on Sunday 26th June in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Big thanks to Bawtry for allowing us to use the course for the day!

www.bawtrygolfclub.co.uk

Help us raise loads of money for this very worthy cause at the JustGiving link below.

Thanking you in advance!
Al

By eck Al that's a hell of a task. 72 holes! And it's a game that the poorer you are at it, the more shots you get, not to mention the extra miles of walking!

Why don't people do sensible charity stuff any more, like they used to do when I were a lad - Like an all night pool tournament at the local boozer, including emergency refreshments to keep the 'fatigued heroes' awake!

Bally - many thanks!

BB - yeah it's a task and a half - bawtry is about 6.5k tee to green so looking at 26K - playing golf - no buggy and an average shot score round there for me of about 90 per round, sometimes 86 sometimes 100 - it'll be a long day! Lol! Well worth it tho after the work macmillan helped do for claire!

Very commendable, Al. I wish I was fit enough to do it with you.

Just a thought, have you got a pool table in your local boozer?  ;)

Sorry - especially after today's result I thought this needed a 'bump!'

Shameless bump I know - but while we're all licking our wounds and wanting a cause to support - any help would be appreciated!

Ok folks - the donations have started so we're on the road therefore it's time for another shameless bump!

There are many of us on here who have lived with (myself and at least one of the other team members) immediate family members our ourselves suffering from some form of this awful disease.

Any donation is greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Bunged you a bit in but I have quite a few Balls found as I walk my Dog around Thorne GC and would donate them if you wish ?

They were off to Tia Greyhound Charity but I will make it up to them !

Cheers wolfie!

I think we'll be OK for balls tho as we're all a bit precious as to which ones we lose! Lol! I tend to lose callaways/srixons, Neil loses taylormades, Ryan loses callaways/bridgestones and Dave loses titleists! Lol!

Thanks for the offer and donation bud!

OK no problem .. I will give them to Tia Greyhound Rescue as I planned.

They are "as found" while walking the Dog and having sold 800 on ebay a couple of years back for 10p a ball I have gone one to find and give away maybe another 30. At the moment I have 20 including 6 Srixons all in good nick. I always threw out the smilers and ones with thorns in them etc and any duff makes. Ironically I used to discard Srixons till I googled em !

So enjoy the 4 Rounds - it sounds great and for a worthy cause should keep you going - see if you can bust 400. In fact I will chuck in another £5 + Gift Aid if you DO genuinely get 399 or less as I reckon that should add a bit of extra interest. On one hand you will be getting plenty of practice as you are playing and getting the feel of the Greens and maybe in "real form" but then as fatigue kicks in it has surely got to take a toll on your score ?

Personally if I did it now I would probably manage 993 !

Brilliant wolfie - I will let the others know - really we should all have a good shout of going round sub 400.

Ryan and Neil will almost certainly (Ryan's off 7 and Neil off 10) Dave and me are both off 18 as it stands but are capable on a one-off of shooting to a 12-14 (you know what I mean - one of those days where everything stays quite straight and quite long and you even send a few one-putts down from 12-15 feet! LOL) but a far more likely to shoot to a 22 - guess that means our h'caps are about right in the grand scheme!

Lol!

Fatigue will certainly play a part in rounds 3 and 4!

Sub 1600 over the whole day for the team will be an aspirational (but achievable) target! Fingers crossed we raise plenty of spondoolics between us!

I used to like using the Pro V1, but got sick of losing them in the woods or lakes, it gets expensive after a while

Well we managed it! But it was bloody hard work - anyone who thinks it was an easy challenge or four guys having a laugh! Have a go! Jeez! Midway through the third round we were all running on empty, but as wehit 10 left on the last round adrenaline and a new lease of life kicked in!

Our thanks to Wolfie/Bally and co for their donations I'll put a full breakdown of Stats up later for the four golfers.

We teed of at 5:15am and putted out on the last at 7:45pm.

Bawtry from the yellow tees  (tee to green and straight! LOL) is Par 73, 6575 yards, my handicap is 18.

These are my stats:
Round 1: Gross 91, Nett 73, Stableford points 36
Round 2: Gross 93, Nett 75, Stableford points 33
Round 3: Gross 99, Nett 81, Stableford points 28
Round 4: Gross 94, Nett 76, Stableford points 32

Overall:
Gross = 377 (85 over four rounds)
Nett = 305 (377 - 4x18 = 72)
Overall over four rounds = 13 over.
Total Stableford (to play to h'cap = 36 points per round therefore 144) = 129

Not too bad considering I carried my bag all the way.
For those of you that indulge in a bit of life on the fairways - what  do you think?

STATS: Alan
Steps: 48,354
Miles: 26.21
Flights of stairs climbed: 103
Kcal of energy used:3258.68

A bonkers day and a helluva lot harder than I anticipated - I've hit a golf ball basically from my house to Sheffield in 14 and a half hours! Crazy!

Thanking those who supported.
Anyone fancy donating a bit now we've done the justgiving link is here (again- sorry)

Hi Alan

As one who once did 2 Rounds on a hot day when I was a mere 28 or thereabouts I cant believe what 4 Rounds must have been like

I did not manage to decode the Stats but have bunged you the extra £6.25 whether you managed to do it or not. Well deserved and for a good cause. I will throw in the next 6 Srixons I find and leave em with Retford Rover at the first home game

Well done - a ray of light after the Referendum and Iceland results

Cheers wolfie! Much appreciated! We made so far approaching £600 - would have been amazing to have hit £1000 - but we'll have another go at it next year!

As a rough guide: we took approx. 1350 shots altogether - I was probably the most consistent player as my worst round was 8 over my handicap - but the other three played better individual rounds! However I had a run of 19 consecutive holes at the back end of round 1 and front end of round 2 that yielded me 44 points so 6 under my h'cap!
