Northern Stadium to rival Wembly

I would like to see a such a stadium based in Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester or Newcastlev or ?, that could host internationals and domestic finals. I think the north deserves such a stadium and could, in the future rival Wembly

It's a good idea, but it just won't happen. The FA spent so much money on Wembley that they won't play games around the country again.

There was much talk and lobbying to build the National Stadium near the NEC Birmingham before it was decided to redevelop Wembley. Easier and fairer access to all.

As said above, we already have other stadiums that can stage internationals albeit Yorkshire is lacking anything like Old Trafford, St James' etc.

I really don't want to rekindle the N v S stuff but unless money is spent north of Watford Gap and unless there is a push for this sort of facility to be built we will forever pay homage to London. London is a great city, love it, but there is a need for expansion of services and facilities up this way, and if you don't ask you will not get.

The FA just need to take some games out of Wembley. Old Trafford is nigh on same size. As other posts have said, the FA have built stadium off of the back of almost monopoly on England home games though.

Similar situation with absolutely ludicrous situation on FA Cup semi finals. NOBODY thinks it is a good idea to hold it there - especially when there are now plenty of first class 50k plus stadiums in England (or even Wales) that could host these games and would be much better for any all north games which otherwise strand supporters in London due to no public transport home.

Wembley has been deminished by this decision.

it just wont happen..The reality is whoever your political allegiance none of them have anything other than zero interest in what happens up North, and neither does the FA...Of course they try and appease us ever now and then, with a few games in a similar way to throwing us a bone like the Northern powerhouse but they will only ever be scraps from what was once a juicy bone....
