Got to be worth a punt on him scoring when he does, probably from a corner the way we have been defending them in recent years!

No problem there. He will be out injured by the time we play them.

Big Rob must be one of very few player's to leave with almost legendary status having only been here a few seasons. I can't think of many to only of been here a few years and be so well thought of.
He's a true leader who gives his all and more every time he takes to the pitch. He'd be in my back four if I was to pick a dream team since we got back into the league. Just wish we'd of got him when he went to sheff wed. He would've given us 4-5 good seasons rather than the two.

We use the term 'legend' too freely, but in my opinion Rob Jones has earned a special place in the history of our club.
He embodied the spirit of the 'never-say-die' attitude which was so important to us during our amazing promotion back to the Championship.

I met Rob one afternoon after a Rovers game at the KM, during the time he was out injured. I was making my way out of the West Stand with my 8-year-old daughter, and Rob was coming down the steps from the gallery.
He stopped to talk to me and my daughter, with his usual beaming smile. My daughter was in awe of the big fella, and has never forgotten those few moments. She was so sad when he left the club, as I was!

A great guy, a true professional, and one of my all-time favourite Donny players.

Legend? Yeah, maybe!

He's very well liked among rovers fans. Legend?  No not in my opinion.  Copps is a legend and has given his career to the club. He is one of my all time favourite players though.

That one match at Bramall Lane in Autumn 2012 is enough for me to induct him into the DRFC Hall of Fame.

A moderate start to the season. A massive match against Derby and Promotion rivals. They absolutely dominated us from start to finish. And Jones was collosal in repulsing every attack, organising the defence and enthusing the team to hold out.

That night, I knew we had found a giant in the squad for the first time in years. His foetal position collapse at Griffin Park was the natural consequence 8 months later. I have never seen a single player so define a team as Jones did that year. He gave body and soul that season.  It wasn't pretty, but f**k me, was it inspiring to watch. His final collapse at Brentford was the most honest response to Coppinger's goal of the entire squad. The rest went off celebrating. Jones curled up on the floor, relaxing for the first time in 8 months.

There's a Pantheon of Rovers Hard Men Greats. The limited players who have picked up moderate squads and driven then to higher things through example and mesterly-ness.

Alan Warboys
Alan Little
Probably Syd Bycroft, although not many on here can say.
Rob Jones is up there with them. For that one, special season.
