Question for the charity experts

I'm fed up of people knocking on my door for donations to charities. Save the children, save the animals, save the birds, save the trees, save everything apart from my bloody money. A woman called the other day from the local sperm bank, of all places. I gave her a right mouthful.
The thing is I never used to be ignorant, but I've learn't to be, even though I struggle with it. The thing is if I responded to everyone's wish and gave them all my wad, I'd have now't left to splash out on me'sen.
Am I being mean?
