Speaking as one who has yet to get a Placepot up (6 horses in first 3 usually) I started doing this Racing thing with no optimism just trepidation

I had no illusions whatsoever that I would be crap at it - and now readers if you are expecting me to surprise you and say I have won once and get close every week .... I DONT !

I have had goes when I got 0 winners whatsoever (once) and the best I have managed is 2 winners and maybe 2 seconds and 2 nowhere. I reckon at Racing it is better to have at least some knowledge and I have proved that handsomely. Even if you DO know something there are all sorts of fiddles , bad luck stories etc etc

Still I will have a go in a minute !

How did you do ? Here are my Punts with 2 winners and the rest nowhere AND one of the winners was due to my selected horse being a Non runner so I actually picked only one

3:10 Ascot  Stargazer 5th
3:30 Haydock  Angel Gabrial  9th
3:45 Kempton  Arab Spring  1st
4:00 Haydock  Englishman 8th
4:15 Kempton Afjaan 1st
4:30 Haydock  Gordon Lord Byron  13th

Knows nowt he says with 3 winners ! I will have to challenge you again next week ! Already one winner adrift !

Strange we either got winners or got hammered . No places at all between us

Wonder if they do a League like Super6 that could be fun. I came 6th in Footy today but second in Racing .... get in !

Probably put about half a dozen bets on in my life if that, pure guesswork just had a look and it looks like you can do a league same as super six

EDIT .....

Hi Daggers - I had a look and they DO DO a League so what say we challenge each other to see who has the least knowledge of the Poppos ?

I have started a League if you fancy it and predictably for those on here than know me or have read some of my posts it is called :
St Leger NOT St Ledger  ...... and the Code to join when prompted is  PF7FPMX
[/color]

If anyone wants to join in we will do it for fun and until this bloke has been  :santa: :santa: and end it on 31st December 2016 so a bit of each Season

If people join with Points already I will do a Spreadsheet so we effectively all start on NIL in the First Round. Good Luck ..... (I WILL need it)

Not wanting to brag (but obviously I am)
Had 3 bets today:
Dutch Law  won 12/1
Intense Tango won 12/1
and
Sirius Prospect because he's my current favourite horse. He finished last.

Well done ... yer banned !

I did pick Dutch Law but did not back it and was shouting "get back get back" at the Telly. It did not get back of course !

A bit of fun is best were it's kept when it comes to horse racing...I know a few people who have/had racehorses and the stories they tell you can hardly believe what goes on...
I did once own a leg of a greyhound (friends syndicate) that used to run at Stainy and Sheffield who we had at a local trainer...It was rubbish though and the vet said it had early arthritis...So it was retired and it's my mates daughters pet now....

Very admirable .... keeping the Dog after it got injured that is. Far too many get abandoned or worse and there are any number of Rescue Homes looking after Greyhounds that have been dumped or injured - one of which is Tia Greyhound Rescue out at Wroot Road Finningley just before Candy Fisheries

Anybody wanting a morning out with a difference can go see and walk the Dogs. They only need 20 minutes a time so if you wanted to take 3 it only means a total walk for you of just over an Hour. They have just over 100 Dogs and nearly all need rehoming - with the exceptions being some who will live their days out at Finno and who need Sponsoring.

There are also Donkeys and Shire Horses for the kids to see plus a great Café with good reasonably priced snap and a Charity Shop on site as well as loads of other Merchandise / Clothing related to dogs and their walkers

I will add the Link and I recommend a visit for almost everyone. I donated my £50 from my Charity Penalty to them and give as much as I can as they do a great job.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YszfXjn1U9Q&app=desktop

Go on - give it a go especially on rainy dank days when nobody goes to walk them !

Yes your right Donnywolf they are seen as commodities not animals and once they are no use to there owners for racing they befall many fates...
Ours was lucky enough to have 4 clowns who owned a leg each who did it for fun rather than serious racing...it didn't cost much to keep it in training really...But once the vet said its racing career was over before it really started (only ran 5 times and never won) it got lucky and now lives the life of riley being doted on...She's a old lady for a dog now and strangely never had any further arthritic problems that I know about...So I think it was cleverer than us..haha We never did get another one which was the plan at the time,we just lost interest in it but that's another game that's as bent as a butchers hook...favourites locked in sheds and fed cabbage for a week prior to racing so they are stiff as boards prior to running...there was one guy who used to cycle with his dogs for ten miles the day of the race..The bloody thing could hardly walk out the trap never mind run...lol

Yes thanks for that. Just got back from a day out (Cleethorpes) so should have an affinity with the Donkeys !

I did remember and had just visited to make my selections and as I am off fishing tomorrow I had to do wild stabs in the dark which on balance will be as bad if I studied them for hours and so save me loads of time

Looks like the League idea has bombed as last time I looked we had only 3 in it !

Cheers JT

:)  I have no real interest in horse racing and betting as such however to possibly win 10 grand for knowing absolutely nothing and  20 seconds of time stabbing in the dark what can you say.
Strange that seeing the betting enthusiasts that pop up on here  show no interest in a bit of fun betting

Have had a few tries on this but can't find one winner let alone six. It's free, however, so I'm in.

That's the spirit in which we are playing - I am trying to prove I know nowt (about horse racing anyway) although I seem to be transferring that skill to Super6 as well !

In order of selection 1-1-2-2-2-3 - for my 6 for 37 points

Off on Barge Thorne to Goole today so already posted todays nags and normal service will be resumed !

After reading the banter between you 2 I started to play , today was the second time the first 4 all won then I got a 5th and the last ride was un seated  ,I know nothing about horse racing but would have done better than then football today Albania's World Cup qualifying match against Macedonia was suspended because of torrential rain in Shkoder.
