I think we need a little more pace in the team, ideally up top or out wide.

I would bring in an experienced keeper as back up and let Etheridge go out on loan.

Marosi looks confident and is a good shop stopper, my only doubts is if teams put us under pressure with crosses is he going to improve on that front.

I think people have to be realistic, this is div 2 the basement of league football...If he was a great shotstopper, great confidence, good distribution and great at crosses he wouldn't be here...For the level we play I think he's done brilliantly and well worthy of being our no1 goalkeeper...

Slow build for the future. McSheffrey, Keegan, Butler, Coppinger. All vastly experienced pros with mileage on the clock. What will the squad look like at the end of NEXT season. Sounds miles off but only 17 months time.

Mcsheffrey wont be here though...Released...Keegan will be gone too I would think...The rest of the squad is really young so no problems there and you have to have some experienced players to come in when times get tougher...Butler and Copps would be more squad players in league 1 I would think...

It is difficult to judge with mcsheffery.. if he gets fit and stays injury free he will piss this division and is still good enough for the next.

If come mid Jan there is still no sign then yes we would need a like for like replacement and hopefully that player would be suitable for next season too..

He wont be anywhere near come mid January...He had injury problems at Scunthorpe and the same here..Once he does get back to training he hasn't even had a pre season, so will be 6 weeks away and that's if he doesn't pick up the normal muscle niggles that normally follow a long period out for old legs....
I wasn't happy about signing him for this season tbh as I've discussed before but he is a very good player but we cant be wasting the budget on a mid 30's player with a knee like his...

Houghton, and a similar player, key for me. It would be fantastic to sign Houghton and he could go up the leagues with us. He seems to relish the fact that he's playing g regularly. Pay him a half decent wage and sign him up. He seems to enjoy it here. Why not eh?

I think DF will try to get permanent signings when he can depending what's available. He's still looking for the 'different' striker and we may not have heard the last of the fella playing in Scotland.

I think he'll be looking for a permanent solution to left back. (I think Evina and ATS days are numbered). Mason has done well but I suspect he'll want to keep him for cover as a utility player who can fill in in a variety of positions.

Keeper. Suspect could be a loan to supplement Marosi who's improving all the time.

Keegan, Middleton and Etheridge could find themselves out on loan I suspect.

Keegan is OK for that position in terms of breaking up the opposition play, but Houghton is much more dynamic.

Baudry could play there?

Next season though, we could sign someone else if not Houghton but don't forget McCullough is also well suited to that role..

Sign Houghton to the end of the season and we'll be OK..

Signing Houghton permanently would be even better!

Hopefully enquiries are already being made in that direction
As I have said n a different thread, how much will Houghton be on at Chelski? bet it's a bit more than we could pay

think we could easily match what he is on now,the problem would be his next contract if he got 1 off them

Fergie has stated that a striker isn't a priority so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get one. A pacey left winger for me to balance Blair on the right.

Harry Anderson - ex Peterborough - now on loan at Lincoln and doing very well....... would fit the bill

Marosi has done more than enough to be accepted as our first choice keeper.
When McSheffrey came last season some said he was too old then and wouldn't add anything to the team.
Well that was proven to be wrong.
Although he is six months older now he will be playing in a lower division and has the experience to excel if he gets his opportunity.
If we get to keep Houghton until the end of the season he may get a suspension or a short term injury and i reckon Keegs could fill that gap for a short spell.

I can understand where people are coming from with the keeper situation. Marosi is a good lad and he will make it, but right now having someone experienced in that position and, in particular, be more vocal, can only benefit the defence. It wouldn't bother me too much if we didn't get one but it would improve things.

A good call from DVR with the left winger - that would be my priority signing, as Calder is simply not consistent enough, much like Evina.

I would want another striker, as DF did before the season kicked off and he was right. Too many ifs and buts with McSheffrey, I'm afraid.

Houghton and Mason have done really well and Hopefully they can be secured. Trouble is, I think we'll only go for one more. So a left midfielder who can be just as good getting back as well as causing problems up top would be my choice. A pacy striker would be the icing on an already significant cake.

I would loan out garret, longbottom and Beeston. At there age they need to be playing games. I would try and keep houghton and mason for the rest of the season, I wouldn't  be too fussed if we sent Calder back. Then I would hope we bring in a striker, left back and  winger/attacking mid

Loans rarely work where we pay the same wage as the player is on, particularly young players. Sure, there will be a mutually agreed fee where some or all is paid upfront. The player still gets his wage slip from his own club.

I don't see him getting better i think this is as good as it get's.

Marosi is good enough to be a first team regular, and he is young so why do you think he has reached his peak???

I just think he is what he is. A good shot stopper, fairly quick around the box but he doesn't take the pressure off his defence by dominating things. Keepers tend to have their strengths and the weaknesses aren't usually improved.
I think we need experience somebody who commands the area and gives assurance to the team. Somebody who even if it's one on one it's not a definite goal. I see him pull good saves off but i don't see him pull many of that he shouldn't get to.
In the tight games sometimes you just need good old reliability like Sullivan gave us. I know it's unfair comparing a former international to a young kid but we do need that type of presence.
Also having an older head around the other two they might learn a few things.

My reply was in response to signing him on a permanent deal
