Where are the prophets of doom these days?
« on December 03, 2016, 09:17:19 pm by Filo »
All missing in action these days, not a peep from them for ages now, not even a grudging, through gritted teeth we are doing well, will they be back when we next lose I wonder?

Will a draw be enough to tempt them back for their doomsday prophecies, seiing as defeats are few and far between these days?

😀😀😀😀😀

I wonder whatever became of that "Borough On The South Downs" geezer that used to come on here a few seasons ago, giving us all sorts of cack about how great Stevenage were going to be blah, blah, blah. Wonder if he's defected to Watford or summat!!!

If we were all content with being shite, what would be the point of trying to improve?

Aye tbf tho B.B lots of people thought our current board were content with being white! Hopefully the season we're having is beginning to sway a few!

That's true Al, and to a certain extent, I was one of them.

The question is though, who made the biggest u-turn in view of our change of fortunes on the pitch, the moaners or the owners?

A moan about the moaners... oh so predictable!

I don't think anyone can be faulted for having a good old moan at the debacle in the second part of last season, nor rejoicing at the recent string of great results which has set the team up very well for the next few months.

I don't think this club should be in this division either.

The middle ground is somewhere in between the two extremes - the acid test will be next season when the club/team is back in it's natural habitat.

And, given the same 12 months again, I'd still sack the manager if he went X amount of games without a win during which the team plummets down the table - even if he is suited to doing a good job at the level below.

You need to research the difference between a moan and a question

The majority of forum members love our club & rejoice our current position & the job our players & manager are doing, the minority forum members love to sit behind the keyboard & spout sack the manager when things don't go well, then tell us all to rejoice when we do well, whilst distancing themselves from the club. The words condescending & bitterness spring to mind, bless. Onwards & upwards.

I enjoy going to the football, and hopefully getting entertained for my money, then scoring goals and winning games.. ultimately the division we are in doesn't really matter..

Anything else, crowds, catering, standard of opposition etc are much less important.. to me, anyway..

Some would say that's very commendable, but what if the owners shared your view?

Luckily Donnyjim lost interest ages ago so we won't be hearing any doom mongering from him.

I would expect that they don't share my views.. I clearly said this was my opinion, didn't I?

Yes, you did, and I said some might say that's very commendable, but if the owners took your opinion on board and based their policies on it, where would it lead regarding the standard of the product?

I'm with you all the way on that IDM (except the catering perhaps).

BB, if the owners did take the view that it doesn't matter what division we're in, how do you explain them putting millions into the club over all of these years?

The words condescending & bitterness spring to mind, bless. Onwards & upwards.

Bitter about what exactly? Not watching fourth division football every week? Not giving a toss about daft football fan politics? Enlighten me.

You clearly don't give a toss. It's evident from how little time you spend on this forum.

The owners obviously don't take that view, but if they thought IDM's view was a fair representation of the fanbase, why would they bother to put millions into the club when the fanbase would be content whatever division we were in?

I would rather watch a competitive team in leagues 1 or 2 than a perennial struggler in the championship, that's my point..

But of course I would be delighted to be back up there and entertaining on the pitch!

Maybe I should have made that more clear..

So there you go, if the cat fits & all that. Is there a guilty complex aswell as the bitterness. Onwards & upwards.

Precisely.

Replace the latter with Barrow though! ;)

Why has Russell Slade moved there? Or is that another team you have stopped 'supporting'?

Getting back to the thread: At half time last Saturday you could get 175 to 1 on a Stevenage win and 50 - 1 on the draw. I confess to having been tempted.
