York this season's escapologist's
« on April 01, 2017, 05:37:21 pm by les@donr »
York were for most of this season dead certs to go down, rooted to the bottom. Now they are producing promotion form, win against Bromley on Tuesday will take them out of the bottom 4. I for one hope they do it.

It's good to see Yorkshire sides in the National Prem, sadly North Ferriby look doomed. Guisley should be safe and hopefully York stay up to. Hopefully they will be joined season by Halifax via play-offs.

I'm going to go and support York on Tuesday night. Really hoping they can stay up in this league and push on next season.

Hear hear! Well done ROTU and good luck YCFC. I really hope they do it.

One of the best Rovers away wins I ever saw came at Bootham Crescent. Stevie Lister scored a blinder in a 3-0 win.

I think next game is Solihull Moors just above them in table and fresh from a proper thumping

Last I looked york were sitting 4th bottom and still in the dead leg zone even after the win at Chester city yesterday.

But they are putting  up 'one dam hell of a fight ' ( John Wayne style)
during process of staying up.

Upyork as that 1970s badge went.

My mistake york are two slots up from the drop zone via goal difference .

Onwards and upwards for them then I hope.

Im told they played really well yesterday. Hope Tuesday was just a blip. They took 500 fans to Chester which is fantastic support.
Hope they can pull off the great escape.

Christ Chester city ,just look at what directions both are clubs have taken since the play off games back in the conference league.

Rovers  > league football > championship football > jpt final > promotions > relegations > new ground >

Chester city > relegation > non league conference tour > no promotions > same ground or have they reformed? >

They went bust and reformed. They're now just Chester FC.

Recall going there in a mini bus from scarcens pub for a facup game sometime in mid 1980s and we was in the coner of a side stand.

Rovers got beat which was the norm.

Then the play off game and we was all behind the goal rammed in.

Sure that game was pay on the gate.

It's now in York's own hands. They have games against Sollihull Moors, Woking, Wrexham, and finish with FGR.

Some interesting fixtures for all the teams around them. I think the York v Woking will be critical.
Come on York City. You can do this!

The next two are critical, both opponents in or around the relegation zone.

As Solihull Moors are my local team I am getting very nervous about them. A few weeks ago they won 4-1 at North Ferriby. Since then five losses on the spin culminating in Saturday's disaster at Tranmere. It all has awful echoes of Rovers in 2013-14 and is a similar situation - one win will probably ensure safety.

I'd like to think both the Moors and York will stay up.

They've got Wrexham at home on Monday. Struggling today with injuries so hope they all recover very quickly!

Come on York hope you can avoid relegation.

Only on goal diff tho. It's so tight! My York season ticket friends feel sick before every match they are so nervous! Awful feeling.

York are in promotion form, can't see them bottling it now. They'll stay up. Torquay could be on their way down.

amazing finish to the season - three games left and any two from twelve can still go down (on the basis that North Ferriby aren't going to score ten a game, which would make it three from thirteen) - hoping that it's woking and chester, purely on the basis of mark wright and daryl clare for the latter...

Really nervous about Solihull Moors now. Apparently they battered York second half but couldn't score. Need to get something on Monday or I think it's curtains for them.

York play Wrexham on Monday who are mid-table and nothing to play for, could be another 3 points for York.

Really hope so. Although one if their key centre halves is on loan from Wrexham and can't play in that fixture. Shame when Wrexham have nothing hinging on the game.
Then they play Woking which really is a 6 pointer!

Since the start of February York have played 13 league games, won 6, drawn 4 and lost 3. They've also played 4 FA Trophy games in that time, winning 3 of them (including beating Lincoln) and drawing 1. They've reached Wembley - to play Macclesfield 3 weeks into May.

That's not bad form.

Hope so on both counts Les. Their fans have endured a torrid time and  deserve something positive. I think most would settle right now for safety and news that the long overdue new ground is started.
