Has Fergie lost the plot?
« on April 29, 2017, 05:20:20 pm by Filo »
One up front at home?

The three behind that deep Marquis was totall isolated!

Conner Grant was god damn awful but Copps went off first

Alfie May was not what we needed when he brought him on when Mcsheffrey is on the bench

We've been promoted but right now it feels like we've been relegated

Another end of season capitulation!

Agree, but it was obvious after 5 mins that Joe Wright was out of his depth, gave the ball away all the time, terrible passing and could not handle being pressed, and from what I can tell he gave away the pen ( based on the fact he was the one who was booked).
I have praised him in the past but today he had a stinker!, We surely can't be keeping him for league one on this performance.

Connor Grant has been awful all year. Don't sign him please. Only one I'm bothered about is Houghton returning. Mason good sub to have to cover positions

Lost the plot is an under statement .
He starts with 1 striker who never got in the box ,and then in blind panic and desperation he ends up sticking 4 strikers on, bizarre.
Not been on Twitter yet , but no doubt he will be blaming everyone but himself.
As for the " end of season collapse ", i'm surprised it's took this long , I'v been expecting for a long.

Couldn't believe he took Copps off. Had to stay on with his experience.

Grant and Marquis were terrible.

Grant has been shocking in his second spell, hope to God we do not sign him in the summer. Simply awful.

Has he lost the plot, yes he has and he lost it as soon as we gained promotion with resting players

Marquis looked bad because non of the three behind got near him

Grant should have been replaced at HT with McSheffrey

POor selection, poor substitutions. Still not over and it's not really important but what an opportunity missed. Suspect he's learnt a lot about some players though. Grant, Butler, Alcock poor today

Must admit I've been trying to stay positive over these past 4 games due to the fact we've gained promotion but today feels exactly how I felt after the Crewe away game last season. For me we will finish third now and that's disappoint for how many points we were clear after gaining promotion. I expect a few players gone after these past four games if fergie is anything like his dad with throwing sentiment out of the window.

:that: you beat me to it mate.
Almost the same team most weeks up to promotion then tinkered with things.

I understand your comment about Marquis, but he is still under performing recently. He doesn't look like he has the same fire in his belly recently. The system didn't help him but he was still poor.

How deflating.

Obviously it's knee jerk in the heat of another awful defeat, but how much do we actually owe to Fergie?  We shouldn't have gone down in the first place, and now having raced to the top of the league once again our form post-January has been another mini-capitulation.

Be interested to see what our post-January form actually is.  I'm guessing it won't be that great.

Our defence is nowhere near good enough for the next level, we looked awful at the back today, it was like Exeter were top & we were fighting relegation, some big decisions for Fergie in the summer, I just hope signing Connor Grant isn't one of them.

He certainly seemed to lose it when he was swearing at the supporters. Unfortunately for the second season running we've got a dressing room of bottlers.

I really thought we would start with Williams and Marquis up front today.
Very negative the way we set up.

Our defence is a total liability. Only one I would keep is Baudry

Today like the last few games has been an absolute embarrassment. Clueless and passionless. Has Dickov been brought back to manage the last few matches?

No, it is still the man who took us down last season.

For heaven's sake, you lot, what would your reaction be if we win at 'Pools next Saturday and Plymouth fail to win at Grimsby? Just to remind you that if this scenario occurs then we're the champions. Cue a completely different reaction.

And the man who put it right this season first time of asking in gaining promotion, but quite a few have been waiting for a bad run so they can have ago again.

Yes well said.
Yes I am really angry and I am devastated that we may have blown being Champions from the position we were in but the knee jerk reactions on this forum once again are quite unbelievable.
The players don't lose deliberately do they.
DF starting with 1 striker seemed strange. To play the last 15 with 4 strikers was even more ridiculous as we had no midfield to give them any service. Williams and May never received 1 decent pass in to feet.
There has been far too much tinkering with the team in the last few matches. Hence the rhythm and the momentum that we had has disapated.
We desperately need a left back and I am sorry Craig Alcock as hard a worker he is just isn't good enough for League 1 ( his distribution is awful ) so unless Mitchell Lund is the answer we will also need a right back. I am also concerned Butler will be found out in the league above due to his lack of pace, so I think we need another centre back also.
If the last few weeks have shown DF that the defence is not good enough then the poor results may have been a blessing in disguise.
NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL TURNING A HUGE NEGATIVE INTO A POSITIVE

Don't include me in the quite a few waiting to have a go again please.
I would have been delighted to give him the plaudits but the question is has he lost the plot.
The answer, sadly is yes.
Too many changes since promotion was secured.
Players who were going to miss the rest of the season mysteriously coming back.
I reckon DF thought the title could be clinched without certain key players and it has rebounded on him.
Much the same as happened last season when he failed to improve the squad in January then stuck with the system that got us beaten every week.
I have enjoyed the ride to promotion and will be happy to say it has been great but sad to say that he has failed to deliver what should have been an easy enough title win from where we were four games ago.
Yes, we may well still get it but it is out of our hands really now.
