If DF has no I tention of signing him what is the point of playing him pre season. Why not play players likely to be signed or in the squad

I think his experience will be good for L1 if we get him on a short term deal. Because to be fair we have not really strengthened the squad too much from last season and that was a very poor L2 nothing like this L1

I think he's worth keeping. I can't imagin he will cost too much in wages. He's experienced, knows how we play and still has a bit of class about him. For me he would be a handy squad player who can change the game from the bench.

Looks gone to me,sorry but he was poor at the end of last season when it mattered, and is not going to improve at his age.
We can get younger and better.

He was one of the better players on Saturday.

Funk,he tried three times to get past their left back and failed when given good service.
Twice the defender stepped in and took the ball off him,the other time he ran him down and he fell over the ball.He has been a very good player in the past and when he first came still had a bit about him, time has caught him up in my opinion and is only going to be a bit part player.
If that is the case, get a younger player in who might improve to be a regular first teamer.Would you give him a contract or the youngster  from France on Saturdays showing?

I think DF is wise to keep him on the fringes, until it's clearer which forwards will be available to him for the start of the season.

I'd give him a 6 month deal.

Last season he didn't look up to it physically but that could also be due to him not having a pre-season. He's easily the best set piece taker we've had since Cotterill and if he can get to the level he was at in League One then we've got a brilliant player.

Of the players released, if he's proven his fitness then I would see sense in a short term deal given our injury woes where other players might be filling gaps.

He certainly has football intelligence on the pitch which we need at times.

I will ask the question again,on the form shown at Tadcaster, would you offer a contract to the youngster from France or McSheffrey?
Which is likely to be the long term best bet? if that i the choice we have to make that is.

A nice piece of politikspeech from DF
"It's not going to ge anything more (than training?) at the moment, if it's going to be anything at all"
"As long as I feel I can help Gary out, there might be a conversation about doing something with him"
Short term contract? Coaching position?
Make of it what you will
