Players not for next season
« on July 18, 2017, 06:29:19 am by phil old leake »

I stand by my previous topic

Why play players you don't want. It's not about looking after your mates or people you like

It's not like we will move him on easier if he's fit because he's no longer on the books

For me it's a total nonsense

Fergie is obviously helping out someone he likes.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got a short term deal.

Maybe we need him to play so we're not rushing anyone into playing more minutes than necessary at this point.

Penney did it years ago with Derek Asamoah - we had a shortage of fit strikers so he played for us despite having no chance of a contract but it put him in the shop window and gave us a body.

I still think he will get a short term deal and wouldn't be against it either if the terms were right.  It would be relatively low risk.

I think Fergie is just waiting to see who else comes in whilst keeping Mcsheffery as a back up.

Whilst being tough on who to keep in the squad is essential, displaying a sympathetic caring attitude with players, not being soft but giving opportunity, has its place in creating an ethos that attracts players and will pay off overall. I think Ferguson has this about right and makes him an attractive manager to work with.
