Alex oxlade chamberlain

Turns down a £40million move to Chelsea as he wants to go to Liverpool....I cant get my head round anybody wanting to pay 40 million for such a bang average player as him..What do people see in him??? This transfer market now is just frightening when people want to pay this kind of money for players of this quality...

To be fair to Oxlade-Chamberlain I think he's got something about him and he just needs to get a run of games in his best position (apparently he sees himself as a centre-midfielder which is what is driving his move to Liverpool, as opposed to a utility player/back up wing back at Chelsea). I hope he does move to Liverpool and nail down a spot as an outstanding central midfielder, not least because we have a dearth of quality in that position at international level. However...

1 year left on his contract and £40m really does blow my mind. Likewise for Barkley - I rate him less than the Ox and he's not likely to be fit until October/November, yet he's still being quoted as £40m.

I would trust the judgement of professional football people to judge his abilities much more than the views of football fans.

Seems I'm in the minority...I don't think he's that good at all, even when he was a regular...Always picks up niggly injury's as well...We shall see how he works out..

The money these club pay for average players is ridiculous he's scored 9 goals in 200 games for Arsenal. He wants to play centre midfield but will he get in Liverpool midfield on regular basis.

He's quality. Arsenal bring the worst out in players, he will show how good he really is now.

we will see a better Oxlade Chamberlin  with Mr Klopp in charge of him, just as he has improved Henderson and England will benefit for it .

I would expect a £40million  player to have completely dominated some games if he was worth that sort of money in midfield.I have not seen that in him yet,He is what I call a bits and pieces player,he has pace but does not always use that when one on one.
He is though worth what someone is willing to pay for him,but only that much in a world that has gone mad.

Haven't Middlesborough just paid £16m for Asombalonga?? In the Championship??! And he's total and utter shite!!!
Unfortunately, that's the sort of money you have to pay for very average players now. Bigger fees will creep lower down the leagues and eventually an average League 1 striker will cost a ridiculous amount of cash.
I seem to remember we paid just over a million for Billy Sharp a few years ago and Asombalonga is not good enough to lace his boots. In my opinion obviously

120k a week at Liverpool. Arsenal offered him 180 and Chelsea 220.

He supported Liverpool as a kid. That's the main factor in his move hence taking less wages.

Fair play to him for taking a paycut. Obviously it's still incredible money but over half a million less a year would've put a few off.

I actually think Liverpool is a better move for him than Chelsea aswell.  He will play regularly and will do well in that side IMO.
