Rodney Kongolo has been selected by Netherlands under-20 for their matches against Switzerland and Italy. He will miss the Rotherham game and the FA Cup replay (if needed.)

Amen to that. Would love to see Beestin given a chance.

Theat young inexperienced players look good in cameos chasing games, Kongolo, Beestin, Ben Khem, even Mandeville. Do they have the tactical awareness when in the thick of battle though? Kongolo, BK have proved they don’t. I think Beestin May be the same.

I’d be surprised if Beestin does start, think Blair will probably come back in, in his place.

It would be inconvenient but not a massive problem. Better that than going out on Saturday.

Both are good prospects but we need better.

Agreed Rodney provides impetus to the attack as well as a physical presence. It's obvious the Dutch regard him as a future prospect whilst some of us just write him off .

The Dutch FA  and DF speak well of Kongolo .In the most recent games for us  two bad crossfield passes  one that led to the second goal against Walsall and a similar ball this weekend ,are  moments that unfortunately stick in the mind here .However he performed well at the Emirates when he got forward down the right wing to the byline on a few occasions and put in dangerous crosses . He has good ball control and since developing young players is our strategy , that is what is going on with him at DRFC.

Graing.

Fascinating actually. In Div 3 matches, the kid often looks like a kid playing with grown ups.

At Arsenal, he looked more than a match for any of their stars.

Except he continually left Blair exposed and sometimes with 3 on 1. This is the part of his game that is almost non-existent - defensive responsibility and awareness.

I think he should only be deployed as an out and out winger. On Saturday he started in the centre of midfield then went to wing back.

I could see the cogs in his brain working, you could tell he was thinking about the orders he had been given and every option he chose was a negative one. This all stems from when Ben Khemis played at Rochdale and was atrocious tactically. DF will have drilled Rodney so much about not taking risks, keeping the shape and being disciplined he was bogged down with it all.

What I’m trying to say is that I don’t think he’s mature enough to play in a midfield three, he needs to have some freedom to express himself and this has to be in attacking areas.

Fair comment Gaz but he can’t play on the wing he never tries to beat a man on the outside, always tries to come in and he can’t cross the ball.

Plus the fact we don’t play with wingers!

Kongolo is a young talented footballer.  Perhaps his style and talent isn't suited to the attritional grinding out the results type of football in the 3rd division.  Maybe we will see him at his best when we are in better form, especially attacking?

He’s green as grass. Sure he will turn in to a decent player.

Im not doubting his potential talent I just don’t think he’s disciplined enough to play the role he’s expected to

How many games has he started?

Young players take time to learn and develop - he's not going to develop at all by continually being put in and then taken out.

Personally, I think it's too big a jump for him, but I'm going on very little evidence, so far. Undoubted talent, but if we're not going to play these young loanees, we shouldn't have brought them in, imho!

More than Beestin and yet from the little I’ve seen of both he isn’t better than Beestin who is ours.
