Marc Antoine Fortune.

Correct.

Without doubt, IMO, he was the best player from that embarrassing season.

Surely you must rate Diouf as the best player of the experiment!!

No, absolutely not.

That whole shambles of an experiment and how utterly ridiculous it was, was summed up when Diouf and a couple of others went out on the lash the night before the game at Southampton - the one where Billy Sharp scored twice for them to stick another nail in our relegation coffin.

It was as unprofessional and insulting towards the rest of the squad as you could possibly get.

I don't disagree with what you're saying but Diouf was the best player we signed that year imo.

I'd go as far to say, the most talented player we've ever signed. Just his attitude that let him down.

Correct.

Next up, back to the present day with three appearances (and maybe a fourth tonight)...

That season was comparable to 97/98 in the sheer madness of the goings on. I did not know whether it was closer to truth or fiction the story saying we were to be signing the Real Madrid midfield guy who had dropped to the bench there. Load of b*llocks as it turned out, but there was some crazy stuff that season. Anyone found Plessis yet?

Clue for the current player... he didn't actually feature tonight, but has figured in our other games in the Check a Chegwin Trophy this season.

Not forgetting the mad 24-48 hours when we were meant to be signing Robert Pires.

I heard from a source that's always been on the money that we were actually speaking to him informally but he just didn't fancy it.

I have no recollection at all of Pores being linked yet a Google has a BBC article quoting the man himself talking about being asked to play for us. Wild.

There was also a major rush of money at the bookies for us to get promoted. If some of those linked had signed,AND performed it could've been very interesting.
Shay Given, Stephen Ireland, Pires were all heavily rumoured to be coming.

Correct.

I'm now at the stage where I'm unable to find the other players in Rovers shirts, but here is another who has features for us on the list...

Im sorry but if we are talking about actual footballing ability then no-one came close to Diouf from the "experiment" !!

No doubt that Diouf was the BEST PLAYER, irrespective of his night club antics.

He actually really tried when he was on the pitch, unlike some of the others that season.

I'm still not convinced that Diatta actually existed either.

John Filan.

Correct.

He played for us in October 2006 in a season where we named about 6/7 goalkeepers in the matchday squad over the course of the season - others being Ben Smith, Jan Budtz, Alan Blayney, Neil Sullivan and Lee Cockerham. I'm sure there was at least one more as well.

Next up is another goalkeeper who understand the concept of staying on his line, but didn't grasp the concept of putting his arms in the air to at least attempt to save the ball if it was flying over his head.

That last paragraph is not much of a clue really, given some of our lot.

Is that Michael Ingham?

Correct.

His inability to do his job cost us points at Hartlepool in 04-05 and he made two appearances before his services were no longer required.

Next up, a one game wonder who actually managed to carve out a decent career after his short stint with us...

Correct.

The only other player left on the list is young James Morris - but I've been unable to find a photo of the poor sod and even DROS just has a silhouette of him, rather than an actual photo.

I hope you've all enjoyed the quiz - if I get chance to source photos, I'll also list those players who've made 10 appearances or less at a later time.
